Transformation and Redefinition

Transformation and Redefinition
The previous examples illustrated
how the iPad has been used in
some cases to extend or modify the
learning task, environment or
context, enabling students to learn
differently and more effectively, not
just more efficiently. Beyond
extension lies a new level
allowing student to do things that
would not previously have been
possible or even conceivable in the
school setting. Here the technology
becomes transformational (MS)
refining (SAMR) rather than simply
modifying the experiences of the
student or the pedagogical
repertoire of the teacher.

Blooms taxonomy for iPads

The introduction of iPads has engaged and enthused

staff and learners. Whether teachers have access to
one or thirty iPads they can make learning multidimensional, enabling students to move from effective
research, to improving their presentation skills, and
(most important of all) creating. With apps to cover
every area of Bloom's Taxonomy iPads are helping to
develop workplace skills.

Crowdsourcing the impact of the MFLTwitterati

The MFL teachers involved feel they:
are part of a large group of like-minded colleagues where they can
share their classroom experiences and be supported when
experimenting with new ideas. This seems particularly significant if a
teacher is new to teaching, a one person department, feels isolated or
does not share the same values as their departmental colleagues
can reflect on their own practice through informal discussion with
others and feel they have become better teachers as a result
are always up to date with the latest resources, national news,
government documents, Ofsted initiatives, links to useful blog posts
etc
are delivering more engaging and effective lessons by trying out new
strategies which in turn are motivating their pupils, improving
attainment and encouraging them to produce more creative outcomes.
have greatly improved their ICT skills and general confidence in how
best to integrate different technologies into their language lessons to
enhance learning

Leading the way with education technology?

One in three overwhelmed by technology

Findings
Britons overwhelmingly viewed new technology
such as mobile phones and social networks as a
positive thing
38 per cent of 10-14 year olds felt that too much
of it could be upsetting
34 per cent of 25-34 year olds reported feeling
similarly.
Young people, however, did not say that they
favoured digital communication over face-to-face.
65 per cent of adults said they preferred
communicating in person, the same was also true
for 64 per cent of children.
