Stage 2 Assessment Evidence

Performance Task:
Goal(s):
The goal is to create a learning ability for operating basic computer applications while forming a
presentation.
Role:
You are a member of a class that is required to present a presentation explaining the six basic
computer applications.
Audience:
The audience consists of your classmates and teacher.
Situation:
You are a member of a class. You must create a presentation consisting of how to operate basic
computer applications. All students are required to create their presentation using one of the six basic
computer applications.
Performance:
You will need to identify what application is used to create a presentation by identifying the remaining
five applications.
Standards:
After completing the presentation students must reflect on the steps it took upon completion of the
presentations as well as a reflection on what was taught with detailed information.
The project will consist of the following:
One reflection on your steps you took to complete this assignment
One refection on information given in class about the basic computer applications
Reflection must be typed in required format
Key Criteria:
A rubric for each student-completed documents will contain:
Spelling/Grammar
Formatting
Knowledge of skills
Detailed steps

Other Evidence

True/False Quiz covering the basic computer applications

Reflections explaining the required lesson
Assignments covering computer functions
Activities reflecting on the six computer applications

Stage 3 Learning Plan

Learning Activities- Consider the WHERETO elements
Anticipatory Set: The classroom projector will be set up with examples of the six basic
computer applications. As the students arrive to class the teacher will hand- out small cards
that consist of three different numbers (1, 2, and 3). After all the students have gotten a card all
the same numbers will form a group. The teacher will then assign different applications to each
group.
Variation: The students were given certain applications to do a presentation on (The students
were given a sheet of paper that consisted of all applications and functions). When students are
finish with presentation they will introduce them to the class.
W
The teacher will explain expectations of Ahhh. How to create a presentation.
The student will understand requirements of project.
H
The teacher will establish a realistic fun setting (as describe in the variation) for the students to
utilize their computer skills.
The student will apply the basic computer applications in a real world everyday life setting.
E
The teacher will provide students with an intense lesson in operating basic computer applications.
The students will have learned the basic computer operations along with functions through
previous lessons.
R
The teacher will observe and often encouraging students to focus on their presentations
pertaining to the six applications explained in the lesson.
The student will be encouraged to identify computer applications.
E
The teacher will provide a detailed rubric for each document in order for students to fully
understand the expectation of the project.
The student will be encouraged to refer to the rubric and provide assessments.
T
The teacher will provide an opportunity for students to make suggestions and will be flexible with
students choice on the type of groups that were formed.
The students will be encouraged to make suggested and allowed to use their own ideas to form a
presentation pertaining to computer applications.
O
The teacher will provide information at the beginning of class to assist the assignment that was
given to the students to complete.
The student will create each presentation along with a specific application.
Differentiation:
Students will share their presentation with each other to learn how each computer
application is presented.
Students who complete their presentation early would be able to let that teacher revise
before turning it in.

Notes:
The concepts that students learn in many different ways include visually and auditory
skills. These concepts can potentially be overwhelming for some teachers to develop lessons to
match. Using technology is one method to appeal to all different types of learners without going
through unnecessary troubles. For example, in this lesson plan about presentations, six different
forms of computer applications were used to explain the operations of basic computer
applications.
In the Ahhh how can I create a presentation lesson, the students are presented with
information on different applications. Students are told this information verbally, but then they
are also presented with necessary information via power point. The use of power point software,
slides, and sounds created a visual to help depict the different ways a presentation could be
enhanced. Using power point is a useful and simple enhancing way for teachers to organize their
notes and appeal to all different types of learners.
Other variations of units can be incorporated. Teachers may provide video cameras for
students to import a certain document into the presentation. This unit must be taught beforehand
in order for the tasks to be achieved. The use of computers is put in the forefront, because it
simple to use and most often produces successful outcomes for students of different learning
styles to be able to learn especially via a hands-on techniques, like using computers.
