A.

GENERAL PRINCIPLE AND INTRODUCTION

A.1.

The Works include following major installation:


o ID776mm Linen Chute

A.2.

Stainless steel ID776 linen chute section, telescopic section


should depend on site conditions and the weighted of chute
section is approx. 20 ~ 30 kg per storey.

A.3.

Installation layout of chutes shall refer to the approval shopdrawings.

A.4.

The person in charge of the site installation work shall read


through this method statement, explain all points clearly for
every worker before the commencement of work.

B.

STAINLESS STEEL CHUTES INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

B.1.

Preparation

B.1.1

Document or sample or drawing submission for architect


approval.

B.1.2

Prepare Linen chute fabrication after all submission are


approved.

B.1.3

Check the vertical alignment, floor-to-floor height, wall and


slab opening against approved document.

(Note: The centre line of chute to be provided by client on the first


level and uppermost floor level for installation purpose.)

B.2.

Delivery of Chute Sections

B.2.1

Chute material will be delivered by 6 trips or less under the


submitted installation schedule.

B.2.2.

All the stainless steel chute sections and components will be


distributed to the required level by material hoist which is
arranged Main Contractor. The chute sections stored lay
down on the floor and secured by wooden blocks.

B.2.2.

The workers shall deliver the chute section by rolling or light


duty hand trolley to the requested location.

B.3.

Installation

B.3.1.

The workers shall fix the steel-supporting frame on the slab


by approved anchor bolt.

B.3.2.

Then workers shall remove the telescopic chute section


inside the steel supporting frame and adjust the level, after
clamped the chute section tight by M12 bolt & nut.

B.3.3

Workers shall make sure the telescopic section is firmly held


by the steel supporting frame then will linked up other
sections onto the telescopic joint and fixed by angle ring
joints.

B.3.4.

Infill the floor slab and erect enclosure wall around the chute
by others.

B.3.5.

Other chute sections can then be installed according to the


procedures described above.

Install the ventilation pipes and exhaust fan with power


connection in the uppermost floor, stainless steel bottom

bend in the lower Linen room with supporting bracket if


necessary after completion of chute sections installed.
B.3.7.

Install the accessories of chute electric interlock wiring and


panel assemble of each intake doors.

B.3.8.

Install the fire sprinkler head with pipes by others,

B.3.9.

Install intake door & inspection door after completion of


enclosure wall with tiles finishing and acid cleaning.

B.3.10. Install the master control panel on the Linen discharge floor
level just next to the discharge door.
B.3.11.Testing and Commissioning for the electric interlock
communication and door lock control chute cleansing device
and disinfectant & sanitizing unit under the JEC submitted
T&C procedure after completion of chute installation.

C.

WORK REQUIREMENTS FOR CHUTE INSTALLATION

C.1.

Provision of ~840mm (linen chute) diameter slab opening at


each floor by builder for the chute installation.

C.2.

Provision of 300mm diameter slab opening and waterproofing


material at roof floor by builder for the ventilation pipe
installation.

C.3.

Provision of minimum 800mm(width) x floor to floor (height)


wall opening at each floor by client for the chute installation.

C.4.

Provision of power adjacent to the exhaust fans and electric


interlock Master Panel.

C.5.

Provision of brick-in of intake door sets with door frames flush


with the final wall finish after completion of the chute
installation.

C.6.

All builders works such as floor slab/wall openings,


concreting, grouting, make-good etc. shall be done by builder.

C.7.

Provision of electricity and water for SSC installation works.

C.8.

Provision of fire sprinkler heads and water supply piping.
