What does the market say about backup appliances?
Analysts like Gartner and IDC stated that Backup Appliances are the key component of Data Protection modernization:
In 2012 the global PBBA (Purpose Build Backup Appliance) market was $2.4 billion, in 2016 the market will be around $3.5 billion with an
annual growth rate (CAGR) of up to 15 percent. In 2012 integrated backup appliances count for around 20% of overall PBBA market. Gartner
stated that in the next years integrated backup appliances like ETERNUS CS200c will be growing faster than target-based backup appliances.
How does ETERNUS CS200c fit into Fujitsus overall appliance strategy?
To participate on the growing market for integrated backup appliances we are developing the ETERNUS CS200c. This appliance enhances and
completes our ETERNUS CS Portfolio on the lower end.
Our data protection appliances ETERNUS CS200c, ETERNUS CS800 and ETERNUS CS8000 have different concepts, have different characteristics of
the functions with the same name and they fulfill different customer requirements.
This will result in different customer use cases and a different customer approach. And the products have to be promoted in a different way.
How to position ETERNUS CS200c? What are the target customers?
The CS200c appliance shall address customers interested in a simplified life cycle handling for Data Protection tasks such as planning,
deployment and operation. With ETERNUS CS200c we mainly focus on the mid-market, but also small and large enterprises can be addressed.
The main use cases for the integrated ETERNUS CS200c appliance are:
Small and Medium Enterprises with no or limited IT staff which are looking for Data Protection in a box
Branch offices looking for a cost efficient solution
The appliance is ideal for specific backup areas like MS Exchange or VM environments, Edge Clients and in combination with Fujitsu solutions
like vShape, FlexFrame Orchestrator, EVO:Rail, ETERNUS DX Snapshots
Large Enterprises (e.g. enterprise IT shops) with several subsidiaries that want to deploy standard configurations on multiple sites
What models do exist for the ETERNUS CS200c?
The ETERNUS CS200c provides
Entry models in T-Shirt sizes S, M, L, XL: The entry models start from 2TB (Entry-S model) up to a maximum of 24TB (Entry-XL model) internal
disk capacity. The entry models are upgradeable within the same size, but an upgrade to other entry models or scale model isnt possible. The
models are always fully capacity licensed with Appliance Foundation Software. They can be upgraded with Foundation Software options. The
entry models equipped with maximum capacity are orderable with Appliance Advanced Software, too.
The Scale model provides a high scalability: It starts with internal server storage and can be expanded with up to 5 ETERNUS JX systems
providing a maximum of 96 TB Backend capacity. The appliance capacity is always fully software licensed.

How do Maintenance and Support Services work?
Maintenance shall be done by Fujitsu locally or authorized partners; back-level support is granted via Fujitsus Service Organization.
All ETERNUS CS200c systems must be ordered with maintenance and support services in the form of Support Packs. In the System architect every
appliance model can be combined with a hardware support pack according to customer requirements and availability in the country. All Support
Packs are available with the duration of 3 5 years, with 1 year prolongation option.
There are specific software support packs for the Appliance Software (Foundation, Advanced and their options) in coordination with the chosen
selected Appliance configuration (availability planned for December 2014, if you need service prices before December contact:
storage-pm@ts.fujitsu.com ).
For every Appliance software option or appliance field upgrade you have to add a Software Support Pack.

NOTE: Maintenance has to be identical for all components of an Appliance and for all Appliances within a CommCell
What is the standard warranty for ETERNUS CS200c?
Every ETERNUS CS200c comes with a standard warranty of 1 year on-site maintenance service for HW. This does not include a SW-Maintenance
service! The 1year standard warranty has to be upgraded with at least one Software maintenance contract. It is strongly recommended to add
HW Maintenance Service with the same SLA.
NOTE: Country specific warranty regulations may apply!
Can the partner provide the maintenance service?
Certified partners can provide the HW service for the ETERNUS CS200c, but not the SW service.
Due to certification requirements between Fujitsu and CommVault only Fujitsu service people can provide the service for the Appliance
Software of ETERNUS CS200c. The software service will be done remotely.
For the HW service the handling is similar to other hardware products depending on country specific contracts with Fujitsu certified service
partners.
The ETERNUS CS200c is pre-configured, why is the deployment service still necessary?
Professional service has to adapt the backup environment at the customer ensuring a smooth start. The integration of ETERNUS CS200c in
customer environment can only be done at customer site.
Each customer has individual requirements concerning backup window, what data should be back-upped and so on. A Professional Service
specialist fits the appliance into the customers backup environment within a defined framework.
What does Professional Services/deployment service mean and contain?
The Deployment Service for ETERNUS CS200c will provide an installation and configuration service for the backup appliance and their clients.
Consistent backups from VMware or Hyper-V hosts to the appliance can be configured. We recommend including a minimum of 2 days standard
deployment service in every ETERNUS CS200c offer. These professional services can be ordered at Fujitsu or their partners.
For more complex environments or integration of applications into the data protection concept at the customer the ETERNUS CS200c Advanced
Deployment Service is available.
