In the Name of Allah

Read and beleive the words of the Imam.

Lantern of the Path

by
Imam Ja'far al-Sadiq

Section 29

Recognition of the Companions

Do not forsake certainty for doubt, and what is clear for what is hidden. Do not pass
judgement on what you cannot see because of something you are told about it. Allah despises
slander and bad opinion of your believing brothers. What then does He think of boldness in
attributing a false statement, false belief or lie to the Companions of the Messenger of Allah?

As He said,

‫ظيٌم‬
ِ‫ع‬
َ ‫ل‬

When you welcomed it with your tongues, and spoke with your mouths that which you had no
knowledge of, and you deemed it an easy matter while with Allah it was grievous. (24:15)

As long as you can find a way to speak well and act well of people whether or not they are
present. Do not do anything else. Allah said,

‫سنًا‬
ْ‫ح‬
ُ ‫س‬
ِ ‫َوُقوُلوْا ِللّنا‬

Speak to men good words. (2:83)

Know that Allah chose companions for His Prophet, honoured them with the noblest mark of
honour and robed them in the robe of support, victory and the correct keeping of his company
in desirable and undesirable situations. He made the tongue of His Prophet speak about their
virtues, excellent qualities and marks of honour; so believe in their love, mention their
excellence, and beware of the company of people of innovation, for it will make disbelief and
clear loss grow in the heart. If the excellence of some of them is not clear to you, then leave
them to the Knower of the Unseen, and say, 'O Allah, I love anyone You and Your Messenger
love, and I hate anyone You and Your Messenger hate.' There is no obligation beyond that.

His words perfectly describe the Shia these days in the last paragraph.
Jazakallah.
Salamu Alaykum.

Its not part of our iman to believe in sahaba. But the companions of the Prophet(saw) are the
best people from this ummah and Allah said about them "And of those who led the way-the
first of the Emigrants (Muhajirun) and the Helpers (Ansar), and those who followed them in
the best possible manner-Allah is well-pleased with them and they are well-pleased with
Allah. He has prepared for them Gardens beneath which rivers flow; therein they will abide
for ever. That is the supreme triumph"

Allah has certainly turned with mercy to the Prophet and to the Muhajirun and the Ansar who
followed him in the hour of distress after the hearts of a party of them had almost swerved
from duty. He again turned to them with mercy. Surely, He is to them Compassionate,
Merciful

And any one who have smallest hatred or enemty against them is not a believer as Allah said
Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah and those with him are harsh with the disbelievers and
gentle among themselves. So that the disbelievers may become enraged with them.

If the best people from our ummah are not loved and respected then who is worthy of it?

In green is what Smart01 has qouted, however, he fails to comprehend the other words of his
Imam, Jafar As-Sadiq. In red is my reply and in blue is what the Shia today are about. Your
Imam is addressing you and us all. Listen to his words of love to those Allah (swt) has blessed
with the companionship of His best creation Mohammad .

And the first to embrace Isl ‫ق‬m of the Muh ‫ق‬jirun (those who migrated from Makkah to
Al-Madinah) and the Ans ‫ق‬a (the citizens of Al-Madinah who helped and gave aid to the
Muh ‫ق‬jirn) and also those who followed them exactly (in Faith). All ‫ق‬h is well-pleased
with them as they are well-pleased with Him. He has prepared for them Gardens under
which rivers flow (Paradise), to dwell therein forever. That is the supreme success.
(9:100)

And whoever contradicts and opposes the Messenger (Muhammad SAW) after the right path
has been shown clearly to him, and follows other than the believers' way. We shall keep him
in the path he has chosen, and burn him in Hell - what an evil destination. (4:115)

The believers during the time of the Prophet salalahu alayhi wa salam were the sahabah. The
sahabah are those who saw the Prophet (who are mature) and died believing in him and his
message.

So if they believe in the like of that which you believe, then they are rightly guided, but if
they turn away, then they are only in opposition. So Allah will suffice you against them. And
He is the All-Hearer, the All-Knower. (2:137)

Once again these are those ones who accepted the message and preached tawhid and stood by
the Prophet salalahu alayhi wa salam side and fought in jihad against the kuffar.

Indeed, Allah was pleased with the believers when they gave their Bai'‫( ق‬pledge) to you
(O Muhammad SAW) under the tree, He knew what was in their hearts, and He sent
down As-Sakinah (calmness and tranquillity) upon them, and He rewarded them with a
near victory, (48:18)

Your rejection of the sahabah deems you a kafir for they were the rightly guided whom Allah
aza wa jal was pleased with and Allah promised to preserve the Qur'an and it was the sahabah
that compiled the Qur'an and the copy you recite is the one compiled by the sahabah.
