Explain how your planned activities will contribute to your development in

the following areas.

Creativity (the arts and other experiences that involve creative

thinking)
- For Creativity I form part of a group called the Junior Branch of CISV and I am
part of the directive board, which plans all of the activities for the people who
form part of the Junior Branch. The creativity forms part in the creation of the
activity in which the people who are not part of the Junior Branch board of
directives will take part in when the trainings take place. Besides this all of the
activities planed have to be dynamic and all of the people who are present will
take part equally. We also have to plan ways in which we would raise funds for
the Junior Branch; theses things evolve days like the peace one day and
acoustica viva. Both of these events helped the Junior Branch to raise money to
have funds to formulate all of the activities. The part in planning and carrying
out these activities involves a lot of creativity. Besides forming part of the
Junior Branch of CISV I also take part in the actual CISV trainings. In these
activities that the CISV Ecuador has planned we work on teamwork, leadership
and peaceful conflict resolution with other kids whos ages vary from 11 to the
older leaders that are 20-21 years old.

Action (Physical exertion contributing to a healthy lifestyle)

For action I have been taking part in the Gym for a long time, since May
2014. This helps me to develop my physical exertion and contributes to
my health because it takes a lot of effort to accomplish goals and to gain
in muscle strength. I set myself monthly goals of muscle growth and have
managed to meet most of them during these months that I have been
involved in the Gym. Besides this during activities like bench press and
thinker curls, both of which are weight lifting exercises have helped me
greatly to develop in strength. Both of these exercises not only help you to
develop strength but also concentration since in most weight lifting
exercises require the individual performing them to place in a great
amount of concentration if not they could perform them wrongly and this
would result in grave injuries. As for this contributing to my overall health
it has forced me into healthier eating habits because in order for me to get
the most out of my workout I need to eat healthier and vigorously follow a
strict eating plan.
Another activity, which I have done, which involves physical exertion
and contributes to a healthier lifestyle is Jiu Jitsu. I have entered Jiu-Jitsu
a moth ago and carried on form last years progress which I had to stop
due to an injury. This challenges me physically because most of the
submissions and projections that are required in the martial art are
extremely difficult to do if you do not have muscle mass and strength. In
the beginning of each class we have 1 or 2 cross-fit cycles that help us to
improve our overall strength, this greatly physically challenges us and
after that we get training and in the end we have sparing, which increases
our core and resistance greatly. Besides this it will help me to form my

personality because it requires consistency and commitment.

Service (an unpaid and voluntary exchange that has a learning

benefit)
As for my service hours I have been taking part in out CAS class and I form
part of the Re-Forestation group. This is a way in which I have become more
in touch with the community and also with the communities needs. We will
discuss on which of the plants is best for the community and will have a
better impact. The other program in which I am enrolled in and makes forms
part of my service hours is the Andios camp, which will take place between
28th of March to the 31st of March. In there we will be addressing regional
projects for Peru, Ecuador and Colombia projects which will aim to be
beneficial towards of communities and to our individual JB societies.

Will any of the activities be new for you (one you have not done before)?
If so, explain what challenges you might face.
-

Yes, the Junior Branch is a sub division of CISV and it will be my first
year involved in it, it will definiatly be a new experience for me and I
think that the challenges which I will be facing are getting the hang
of the activities which we do there and also organizing my time to fit
in all of the Junior Branch meetings which will take place.
Another challenge, which I will be facing while doing this activity, is
the fact that I have never been involved in something like this and it
will prove difficult to contribute to my fullest during my first
meetings.
Another challenge, which I think we will be facing in the Junior
Branch, will come along with the Andinos camp in March. I think that
it will be very difficult to agree on the regional projects as JB Andinos
because we each face different cultures and societies being from
three different south American countries.

Do you foresee yourself being in a leadership role in any of the activities?

If so, explain in what way.
I see myself being a leader in the Gym, this is due to the fact that
since I have been there a long time and constantly attend on a daily
basis I can give advice and suggest workout plans to people who
have recently entered the gym. On a number of occasions new
members have come seeking my advice on how to do a certain
exercise or on meal plans, therefore I do in fact see myself being a
leader in this particular activity.

On another activity, which I do see myself, being a leader in is on

Jiu-Jitsu. In certain classes or on days which the teacher delegates
the lesson to the students we have to self-teach grappling and
ourselves the techniques. So I do see myself teaching newer
students or even older students how to properly grapple and how to
perfect a technique in training. This is considering the fact that
when a certain technique is applied I would have to be the subject
on which the technique is applied, so I can feel if the choke,
guillotine, kimura or whatever the technique we are practicing that
day is actually effective and would work in a real competition or
combat situation.
Another activity in which I would see myself as a leader is the Junior
Branch and CISV. This is due to the fact that sometimes people
would have to perform a warm up or lead a discussion and I do see
myself doing these activities in the future. Especially since I really
enjoy taking the leading role in discussions or debates.

What new skills do you plan to acquire while undertaking each activity?
New Skills or Increased Expertise
- I will definitely be gaining skills, which I do not know in CISV and also in
the Junior Branch as well as in the Gym and Jiu Jitsu. It is never to late to
learn new skills in any of the activities, which I have listed above, and plan
on doing in Q3. Some activities which I will gain expertise in are Jiu Jitsu
and also in the Gym since they are activities which I have been doing ever
since the start of the CAS program last year.
Will you be involved in initiating or planning any aspect of these activities? If
yes, explain in what way.
-

Yes in fact I would have to plan my own Gym itinerary if I choose not
to follow the one provided by my Gym. I would have to do research
on how to conjunct exercises so that they do not only target one
specific muscle group and the days in which to perform each muscle
group so that no muscle is ever too fatigued or gets over worked and
injured.
Not only would I have to plan some activities in the Gym but also in
my school in the re-forestation group. Since I am in senior year the
younger students will be looking up to me to plan the activities for
them and to plan the visits to el vivero or any other place in which
we will be helping. We as older students will have to plan out the
individual CAS lessons which are given to us on Wednesday
mornings in the school.
In the Junior Branch and also in CISV there will come days in which I
will have to plan a discussion or even a simple warm up.

Will you be working in collaboration with others? If yes, please explain.

- Yes in fact in all of the activities mentioned above with the exception of
the Gym I will be in charge of working collaboratively with other people. In
the Gym this will not be the case because everyone is in charge of doing
their own exercises the only time were I would have to work with other
people in the Gym is when giving advice to someone or teaching someone
how to do a workout or simply when my muscles have reached fatigue and
I will still be looking to complete the negative sets I will need someone to
help me lift up to weight so that I may accomplish this.
During this activity will you encounter any issues of global importance?
Please
Explain.
- In fact in CISV I will encounter issues, which are ore global importance,
especially in the Andinos Camp. This will be due to the fact that we will be
addressing regional projects of Colombia, Ecuador and Peru. Which if looked
at in context can be considered a global problem. Besides this In the

reforestation CAS group we will also be looking at a global issue which is the
issue of reforesting the planet.
