Numbering plan descriptor (NPD)

NPD configuration determines the DID translators to be used for incoming and outgoing calls.
NPDs 0 to 32 are predefined and reserved for automatic mode. When Normal or Expert mode is
selected, the NPDs to be used must be created using NPD numbers higher than 32.
1. Select: Translator > External Numbering Plan > Numbering Plan Description
2. Review/modify the following attributes

Called DID identifier

Enter the number of the DID translator to be used for DID

transcoding of the called number for an incoming call. -1
means no transcoding will be carried out for incoming calls.

Calling/Connected DID
identifier

Enter the number of the DID translator to be used (for an

outgoing call) for reverse DID transcoding of calling number.
-1 means no transcoding will be carried out for outgoing calls.

3. Confirm your entries

The 32 predefined NPDs correspond to different possible combinations in the values of the fields
completed and can be used directly for management in automatic mode.
It is therefore rarely necessary to manage an NPD.

The 'X' character:
To simplify numbering plan management (when there are similar call numbers to be discriminated
and therefore entered successively), the wild card digit can be used. The character used to
represent the wild card digit ('X' by default) replaces any digit, and therefore allows only one call

10 of 14

04/10/2013 15:21

Numbering conversion - Configuration procedure

https://www.technical-knowledge-base.com/kmdoc/upload/km_dmodule...

number to be entered (in a discrimination rule) instead of ten (or more if there are several "Xs" in the
call number).
Example:
With call number (in discriminator 1) 01X23.
This functions as if there were the following ten call numbers in discriminator 1: 01023, 01123,
01223, 01323 ...., 01823, and 01923.
The 'W' character:
This character, placed after a call number in a discrimination rule, triggers a timer after the call
number has been dialed.
If, when the timer has elapsed, no extra digit has been dialed, this number is transmitted.
If at least one digit was dialed before the timer elapsed, the digits dialed after the timer was
triggered are transmitted after the call number.
The W character must be managed in the translator. The discrimination rule must be created
following certain constraints: the W character must be at the end of the call number, it can appear
only once in the call number and it cannot be the call number.
Remark: The time used is "292" (default value: 10s).
Example of operation for the USA:
Prefix 9 is managed to exit to the PSTN. The user can then dial either 0 to call the attendant of the
local carrier, or one of the following combinations:
00 (redirected call for the attendant of the local carrier).
01 + a variable number of digits (call via an international carrier).
011 + a variable number of digits (direct international call).
0 + 10 digits (call via a national carrier).
To eliminate any ambiguity, the manager must enter the 0W call number in the discriminator, a timer
is then triggrered after the first 0 to determine if the user intends to dial only the zero, or continue to
dial other digits.

Minimum management
OmniPCX Enterprise installed in one single country
Correct management of the "External callback translator requires (at minimum) the following
translators to be configured (example values):
One callback translation table. The default table can be used. All entities of the system must use
this table.
Default values can be used.
The translator rule for international calls:
Basic number: 'A'
No.Digits To Be Removed: 1 (to remove the 'A')
Digits to add: #000. #0 is the trunk group seize prefix and 00 is the international
access prefix
The default translator rule. This rule is used when the area identifier received does not match
the area identifier of any declared translator.
Basic number: 'DEF'
No.Digits To Be Removed: 0
Digits to add: #00. #0 is the trunk group seize prefix and 0 is the national carrier
