sive recall of defective Toyota cars
in Europe and the United States ,

A report posted on abs-

spokesman for Toyota Motor
Philippines Corp. (TMP), said in
a statement: "We received infor-
mation from Toyota Motor Corp.

Lexus models are not affected by
the new US 'stuck gas pedal'

But Marcial cautioned cus-
tomers to discuss their concerns
with their dealers if they have
apprehensions about their cars’
safety.

SC rushes rules for
‘writ of kalikasan’
CHIEF Justice Reynato Puno revealed that
the Supreme Court (SC) is now rushing the
promulgation of the rules governing the is-
suance of the “writ of kalikasan,” which is
expected to hasten the resolution of environ-
mental cases.
Puno said he is hoping to leave the writ of
kalikasan, which will involve cases involv-
ing the protection and preservation of the
environment, as part of his legacy when he
retires on May 17.
Puno was also instrumental in the adop-
tion of the writ of amparo and the writ of
habeas data in the country’s legal system,
which, together with the writ of habeas cor-
pus, completed the citizens’ legal armory
against extrajudicial killings and disappear-
ances and other forms of human right viola-
tions.
The SC committee on the revision of the
Rules of Court, which Puno chairs, is now
on its second draft of review of the Rule of
Procedure for Environmental Cases. He said
he expects the promulgation of the Rule within
two months.
According to Puno, the writ of kalikasan
will be the equivalent of the writ of habeas
corpus or of the writ of amparo in terms of

Pacquiao is now ready for Clottey

that he is 100-percent ready
to face the challenger Joshua
Clottey of Ghana at the Cow-
boys Stadium in Dallas, Texas.
Pacquiao only has seven
weeks to train for his March
13 title defense but he said his
body and mind are prepared
for the boxing showdown
with Clottey.
He said the few weeks of
intense training would be
enough to get him geared up
for the fight.
Now on his second week
of training at the Wild Card
gym in Los Angeles, Pacquiao
shrugged off concerns about
the build-up for Clottey being
shorter than his usual eight-
week camps.
“No (it’s not a concern),
training is good. Right now I
have pretty good movement.
I am throwing good combi-
nations and I will be ready
for the fight on March 13,”
Pacquiao said in an interview
with 8 Count News.
The 31-year-old Pacquiao
has started sparring last Fri-
day, thoroughly dominating
