The Grand Bahama Flag Football
league began their season this past Sunday at the Grand Bahama Sports Complex and the action picked up quickly.
Players couldnt wait for the opening
kick and it showed in their play and
their pre-game chants.
Winning the first matchup of the day
in the mens division were the BORCO
Oilers defeating the Westminster Runners 6-0.
Head coach for the Oilers, Warren
Martinborough said the team was working real hard in the off-season and that
as the season goes along expects to see
an improvement out of his guys.
Weve been working hard in the offseason. We picked up some good guys
and we got some really committed fellas. Theyre well disciplined and even
though we made some erros today, I
think as the season goes along we will
really see what kind of team we have,
admitted Martinborough.
He also noted the team has some work
to do in regards to blocking for the quarter backs and with having a new and
young line, he expects them to improve
over time.
The Oilers and Runners were gridlocked in a scoreless game until deep in
the second half when the Oilers found
some daylight off a pass that went all the
way.
On the ladies side of things, the
Candys Meat & Poultry Crushettes defeated the Hot Shots Liquors Assassins
18-0. The Crushettes were clicking in
this tilt and ran away with the game
when they forced an interception that
was taken to the house to seal the game
for good measure.
The fun continued in the mens division when the MSC Tritons turned back
the Fast Track Flyers in a closely contested battle. The Tritons came out on
top with the 16-12 victory.
The Freeport Container Port (FCP)
Stackers escaped the GB Shipyard
Wreckers 13-6. The Bahama Rock Excavators ran the Grand Cay Sharks
ragged with a 25-0 win. The Royal Bahamas Police Force defeated the
Chances Alliance by a touchdown, 12-6.
The girls continued their action as well
when the Lady Enforcers let themselves

be heard and felt with a 6-0 win over the

Lady Warriors.
The FCP Piranhas had their way in
their tilt with the High Rock Stingers
blanking them 30-0. And in the final
game for the ladies that evening the
MLM Eagles and ISS Marines gave the
fans their moneys worth, but it was the
Eagles coming up victorious, 20-18.
Week two is set for Sunday at 1:00
p.m.
Game one will feature the RBPF Enforcers taking on the Sands Bears in
mens play. The GB Shipyard Wreckers will face the BORCO Oilers, the Bahama Rock Excavators will battle the
FCP Stackers, the MSC Tritons look to
go 2-0 for the season when they take on
the Grand Cay Sharks and the Fast
Track Flyers take on the Runners.
The ladies have a 1:00 p.m start as
well with the MLM Eagles facing the
Lady Warriors, ISS Marines will take on
the Lady Enforcers, the FCP Piranhas
and the Assassins will be facing off and
the High Rock Stingers look to bounce
back against the Candys Crushettes.
