5 FAQs
1. Why does the ADSL connection break so often?

Many possible factors may cause this problem, such as faults in your service
provider's access server, line disconnection, and line disturbance. You can do as
follows:
z Ensure that the ADSL line is connected properly.
z Keep the MT882 away from appliances with strong electric fields or magnetic
fields, such as a microwave oven and a refrigerator.
z Ensure that no telephone or fax machine is connected directly with the ADSL line.
z Replace the old industry standard architecture (ISA) network adapter with a new
10/100M peripheral component interconnect (PCI) network adapter and install the
latest driver.
Contact your service provider for help.

2. Will the call service and the ADSL access service influence each other?

The MT882 separates the voice and data signals through the FDM technique. Though
transmitted on the same telephone line, voice and data traffic do not interfere with
each other and the two services will not be influenced.

3. I cannot get online for I changed the parameters of the MT882, what can I do?

Restore the default factory settings of the MT882 as follows:

(1) Find the Reset button on the rear panel of the MT882.
(2) Use a needle-like object to press the Reset button, and then release it.
4. The Power indicator is off, what can I do?

Check as follows:
z Whether the power adapter is suitable for the MT882.
z Whether the MT882 is connected to the power supply correctly.
z Whether the Power button is pressed down.
5. The ADSL LINK indicator is off, what can I do?

Check as follows:

10
z Whether the telephone line is correctly connected with the splitter.
z Whether there is junction box in the telephone line. If yes, ensure that the junction
box does not contain components such as the capacitance and the diode.
z Whether the telephone line works normally by testing with a telephone line.
z Whether the telephone line connector is correctly plugged in the device.
6. The LAN indicator is off, what can I do?

Check as follows:
z Whether the provided network cable between the MT882 and the computer is the
correct type.
z Whether the network cables are connected correctly.
z Whether the network adapter indicator of your computer is on.
z Whether the network card works normally.
Select Hardware > Device Manager;
Check whether there are devices that have the ? or ! mark under Network
adapters. If such devices exist, uninstall and then re-install them. If the problem
remains, change the slot for the network card.
7. Why cannot I access the Internet?

Take the commonly-used access mode (a dial-up software is installed on your

computer) as an example:
z Ensure that all the previous problems are addressed.
z Ensure that the dial-up software is correctly installed and set on your computer.
z Ensure that you have entered the correct user name and password.
z If you still cannot access the Internet after the dial-up operation, check whether
the Proxy server on your IE is correctly configured. The Proxy server must be
