Online Voting System

Synopsis
The basic idea of the online voting system is that the citizens of a country can poll their votes
from anywhere on election time. This system involves two types of users voter and the
administrator.The main role of the administrator is to safeguard the database and can
add/delete the citizens from the database.
In ONLINE VOTING SYSTEM a voter can use his/her voting right online without any
difficulty. He/She has to be registered first for him/her to vote. Registration is mainly done by
the system administrator for security reasons. The system Administrator registers the voters
on a special module of the system visited by him only by simply filling a registration form to
register voter. After the validity of them being citizens of the country has been confirmed by
the system administrator by comparing their details submitted with those in existing
databases, the citizen is then registered as a voter.
After registration, the voter is assigned a secret Username and Password with which he/she
can use to log into the system and enjoy services provided by the system such as voting,
checking results among others. If invalid/wrong details are submitted, then the citizen is not
registered to vote.
In this process one can cast a vote from residence or e-polling booth. In case of e-polling the
user has to show the necessary identification.

Description of high level requirement

Login : The login module allow the administrator and the voter to login to the system. After
successful registration the voter can login to the process through he/she can view his/her own
details or can cast a vote on election day.

Voter Registration : This module allow the user to register for polling. Here the user has
to enter the valid data. The registration process is successful only after verified by the
administrator.

Important Information : This module shows the total number of seats and its breaks up,
elected member list, their parties and symbols.

Rules : This module shows different guidelines for login and voter registration process.
Statistics : This module shows previous election results i.e the number seats acquired by
winning party.

Contact us : This module allow the user to contact with the administrator through telephone
or email.

Feedback/FAQ : This module allow the user to post their thoughts and also allow to ask
any type of queries.

Problem statements
The Current Voting System is critical to our Election Commission of India for conducting
elections and announcing the results because the money involved in employee remuneration
and the complexity of the legal requirements is more.
This system reduces the manual paper work, time and money on transporting the electronic
voting machine. Again the citizen who stays outside country can also participate in the voting
process.
