The steps in preparing a nutrition education session are: developing objectives (they must
be Relevant, Understandable, Measurable, Behavioral, Attainable and Specific); developing
group instruction; Conduct Nutrition Education; and Evaluation.
2. List some skills and techniques that help a dietary manager to be effective in
teaching groups.
Some skills and techniques that can help a dietary manager to be effective in teaching
groups are sharing their experiences and learning, motivating client by describing learning
objectives and engaging them in discussion; organizing teaching material and method
effectively; encouraging active participation of client in training and discussion sessions; and
closing the group instructions on a polite note.
3. What criteria would you use to select educational materials for an aging population?
The educational material should involve real life examples and experience sharing as

learning is enhanced when it is immediately applicable to real life contexts.


Educational material should make use of both past and current experience.
Educational material should be designed in such a way that problem-centered learning

can be achieved.
Educational material should be arranged over an informal, lively and exciting structure so

that senior adults can relate to it.


The hearing and visual factors of aging population must be satisfied in educational

material.
Use terms familiar to older people in the educational material.
Limit the amount of information you provide.

Information.
Hmong Health Education Network. The goal of the network's website is to provide
access to health information for Hmong people and those who provide health, education

and social
services to the Hmong community.
