Dear Parents & Students,

I am so thrilled that you are considering piano lessons! This may well be the key to years
of pleasure and accomplishment for you as you open the door to the universal language of
music! In order to ensure that you or your child get the most effective and creative teaching
possible, I have established the following policies to help you as you make the commitment to
beginning keyboard instruction:
Piano lessons are based on a yearly tuition. Your tuition guarantees that I will be prepared and
present to teach 38 weeks during the school year and also includes all expenses for books,
recital music, and recital expenses. Optional performance opportunities such as Piano Guild
and competitions will be added to your tuition as necessary. Tuition is due by the 1st of every
month from August through May. There will be a 5 day grace period to receive your payment.
A $15 late fee will be assessed for late payments.
Yearly tuition for 30 minute lessons is $620. Monthly payments would be $62.
Yearly tuition for 45 minute lessons is $850. Monthly payments would be $85.
Yearly tuition for 60 minute lessons is $1,150. Monthly payments would be $115.
Yearly tuition for 30 minute lessons with the sibling discount is $560. Monthly
payments would be $56.
Summer piano lessons are based on a 7 week period. During the summer, the weekly
schedule will be a bit more flexible to allow for makeup lessons due to vacations. Summer
tuition is also due by the first of the month in June and July.
Summer tuition for 30 minute lessons is $115. Monthly payments would be $57.50.
Summer tuition for 45 minute lessons is $155. Monthly payments would be $77.50.
Summer tuition for 60 minute lessons is $210. Monthly payments would be $105.
Summer tuition for 30 minute lessons with the sibling discount is $100. Monthly
payments would be $50.
Because specific times are set aside for specific students, a student who does not attend a
lesson will simply forfeit the benefit of that lesson. I will then use that time to plan for the
students progress, locate materials, etc. Please be assured that your tuition pays for far more
than the time spent with your child (see the pamphlet Where Does My Tuition Go?). There
are no refunds, discounts or makeups given unless I am unable to teach the promised number
of lessons. You may also opt to use the swap list, Facetime, Skype, or simply call to chat
about your childs progress during the time that is reserved for your child.
Students who are ill should not come to piano lessons. Extra time during school breaks
could potentially be considered makeup lessons due to illness. I reserve the right to
send a student home if they arrive sick. If students are only mildly ill, please email me
and we can arrange a phone, FaceTime, or Skype lesson.

Skype, Facetime, and the telephone are becoming very useful tools for teaching
students who cannot make it to a lesson due to illness, weather, etc. If you have a
computer, smart phone, or tablet please create a free Skype account and add my
name to your contacts or Apple users may Facetime using my studio phone number.
This will allow me to call you and have a lesson with you over the internet if need be.
My Skype user name is "ericaspianostudio".
In addition, students may trade their lesson time with another student (Lesson Swap)
to help avoid absences. Please use these rules to make sure swaps go smoothly:
I must be informed as soon as possible after swap arrangements have been
made.
Should 2 students arrive at the same time, I will teach the one whose lesson is
normally at that time.
Please inform me if you do not wish to have your name and contact information
included on the swap list.
If you are unable to find someone to swap with you, please see above for
Phone, FaceTime, or Skype lessons during the students regular lesson time.
Please feel free to contact me via email, phone or text for any questions or concerns! If you
need to miss a lesson, please notify me as soon as possible. I appreciate your
communication!
Regular practice is imperative to learn how to play proficiently. A minimum of 30 minutes of
practice, 5 days a week is required. (This requirement may be lower for early beginning
students.) Participation in the spring and winter recitals is required, but festivals and
competitions are optional.
If for any reason you must stop lessons, one months notice is requested. At that time, I will
pro-rate the tuition for your final month to reflect the number of lessons that you have received
based on the last lesson date.
Pictures of my students may be posted on my studio website or included in studio publications
with no names attached unless specifically requested not to do so by the parents.
The student is required to have a full-sized digital or acoustic piano with damper pedal. If you
choose digital, the keys should be weighted to ensure adequate finger strengthening. Please
feel free to ask if you would like assistance in choosing a piano!
I hope you find this information helpful as you make your decision about piano lessons. If
you are interested in scheduling piano lessons, please fill out the enclosed enrollment form and
return it to me.

Thank you!!
Erica Ogden
