Introduction
Thank you for purchasing the Progress Report Templates. We hope you find them a
useful
tool in your communication efforts with parents.
These reports are designed with the needs of parents and teachers in mind and ha
ve
successfully been used in Montessori classrooms for a number of years.
Meeting Parents Needs
? General information about child development is included so they can see how th
eir
child is progressing within a wider context.
? Brief descriptions are given of any didactic materials mentioned in the narrat
ive.
This prevents the confusion and alienation that sometimes arises from being give
n a
checklist of materials they do not understand.
? Parents find a thorough and thoughtful narrative about their child more meanin
gful
and informative than a simple report with one or two comments in various categor
ies
or a list of all the materials in the classroom.
Meeting Teachers Needs
? The digital template allows full customization to suit your needs, and is form
atted for
ease of use.

? Prewritten comments drastically reduce the time required to write a thorough

narrative.
? Composite samples help you when writing reports for children with challenges.
? Categories and comments in the templates give you a guideline for focusing you
r
daily observations over the course of the year to ensure that you are aware of a
ll
areas of the child s development.

documents. Almost all word processors can read this format, including simple tex
t
editors.
2. Your classroom observation and record keeping documents..
It can be tempting to
blaze through the
narratives without
checking for accuracy.
Be certain to read
through them carefully
and ensure they truly
represent the
individual child!
