Media Conversion
Transition Networks full line of feature-rich media converters transparently

connect one type of media, or cabling, to another typically copper to
fiber. By bridging the gap between legacy copper infrastructures and
fiber growth, our media converters provide an economical path towards
extending the distance of an existing network, extending the life of nonfiber based equipment, or extending the distance between two like devices.

Circuit Emulation
Next generation Ethernet networks are being
deployed on a large scale. However, there are still
supplementary 2G & 3G base stations already in
service. Transition Networks offers a complete carrier
class CES platform that helps converge TDM to
Ethernet utilizing either SAToP of CESoP technology.
Available in a wide range of Ethernet and T1/E1
interfaces, these products offer highly accurate
distributed clocking features that exceed ITU G.823
synchronization standards. CES is optimized for new
mobile services, while retaining investments in legacy
backhaul equipment.
Transition Networks CES products are designed for
ultra-low latency and have advanced clock recovery
algorithms for critical timing and synchronization
required in mobile backhaul networks. CES provides
a means to converge any TDM service (Voice, Video,
Data) to any IP, MPLS or Ethernet network transport.

Todays voice video and data networks are becoming more complex requiring more
bandwidth and faster transmission rates over ever increasing distances. To meet these
demands, network managers are relying more on fiber optics. But the reality that
many service providers, enterprise corporations, and government agencies are facing
is that once their available fiber infrastructure is exhausted, laying more fiber is no
longer an economical or feasible solution. So, now what?
Coarse wavelength division multiplexing (CWDM) is a technology which multiplexes
multiple optical signals onto a pair of single mode fibers by using different
wavelengths, or colors, to carry the different signals. By utilizing CWDM, network
managers can realize a multiplication effect of up to 16X the capacity of their current
fiber infrastructure. The ability to increase bandwidth without adding fiber to your
current infrastructure makes CWDM an attractive solution for network managers.
CWDM is a completely passive technology which affords you the ability to mix multiple
protocols and network speeds over the same fiber infrastructure with no complicated
configuration. The modular design also allows for Plug and Play installation and
expansion.

With the ever increasing level of attention being paid to the security of the data in todays networks, all organizations can
benefit from a fiber infrastructure. In particular, government and military agencies, have a strong interest in fiber due to its
ability to provide greater transmission distances, support increased bandwidth, and reduce the risks of security breaches
of classified data in their networks. Fiber is able to protect the data traveling through a network due to its properties. It is
virtually impossible to tap into fiber and go undetected by network managers.
Fiber NIC cards from Transition Networks allow for a simple integration path wherever fiber is available at the workstation.
The NICs include software drivers for todays most popular operating systems and support both Fast Ethernet and Gigabit
Ethernet environments. Users can choose from a variety of interface bus technologies. PCI Express (PCIe) offers the ability
to maximize bandwidth and bus efficiency while lowering power consumption on desktops. PCI and PCI-X are also supported.

DbManager
DbManager is a Windows based, Graphical User Interface (GUI)

providing full fault management on all Transition Networks Circuit
Emulation Service (CES) products in the network. DbManager
offers a 4 layer directory type structure network map window, 2 event windows (one historic and
one current), and a terminal window showing communications between Manager and devices.
The SNMP support adds a proxy agent whereby Alarms & Events received by DbManager from the
devices are transmitted out of the Northbound SNMP interface as Trap/Alarm messages.
Depending on the your management needs, Transition Networks has the coverage to achieve the
operational efficiency required in any managed network.
Command Line Interface (CLI)

Transition Networks comprehensive Command Line interface offers all management functionality through an easy to use interface. CLI can be used during initial setup, for troubleshooting and also for day to day device management, firmware upgrades,

Focal Point Transition Networks SNMP software management platform, Focal Point, is free of charge and is available to users with any chassis or
management card purchase. Focal Point is designed to offer full SNMP read/write management capabilities via a user friendly graphical user interface (GUI).
Focal Point software allows the user to enable and disable features incorporated into each of the devices. Focal Point has several new unique features to simplify

Focal Points newly designed screens are very intuitive and easy to navigate. Customers can now navigate between multiple agents from within one screen and
switch between chassis cabinets through the drop down menu. Focal Point has two types of views: a summary screen, that reports the devices link status and its
critical features, and a detailed screen that brings up everything about the particular device. These views provide quick access to network management.
One of the most important features of this package is an integrated Trap Viewer application. It allows users to see and log received traps from IP based network
equipment (including third party devices). Traps are displayed in a user friendly, readable format. Users can filter traps to read desired messages only.

Transition Networks SFPs and XFPs are small form factor,

hot-pluggable transceivers which allow for a single piece
of network equipment to be connected to a multitude
of interfaces, protocols, and transmission media via the
SFP/XFP port. Our Small Form Pluggables offer a cost
effective and flexible means to accommodate for network
modifications and growth, while still using existing network
devices.

Hardware Support Products
Training and Consulting Services
All Transition Network products have a hardware warranty that is

included in the price of the product. The hardware warranty provides
repair or replacement of defective hardware within 20 business days.
The length of the included warranty varies depending on the product
classification.
TNCARE Online Consulting Service
Lifetime Warranty Classification
Products in this classification include media converter products,

enterprise Ethernet switches, environmentally hardened Ethernet
switches, network interface cards, SFPs, modular media converter
systems, and power supplies for these products.
5 Year Warranty Classification
Products in this classification include our intelligent network interface

devices (S3280 series, S4140 series, S4212, and S4224)
1 Year Warranty Classification
Products in this classification include the PacketBand, MediaBand,

DataBand, and Liberator Series products.
Firmware Upgrades
Products with either an active included warranty or extended warranty

are entitled to firmware/software upgrades as they become available.
Additional hardware support products are available to protect your
investment and extend or enhance the level of hardware support
available.
TNCARE Extended Hardware Warranty
Once the included hardware warranty expires, extended warranties

can be purchased to continue warranty coverage. Extended
warranties are purchased for specific equipment that is identified by
serial number. Products covered by extended warranties receive the
same repair and replace treatment as products under the included
warranty, repair or replacement within 20 business days.
Online Consulting is available to remotely assist with configuration,

provisioning, and other implementation tasks, troubleshoot network
issues, or to analyze network performance and make improvement
recommendations. Remote network access is required to utilize this
service. Online Consulting is purchased by the hour.
TNCARE On-site Consulting Service*
On-site consulting services are available to assist with network

designs, configuration, provisioning, and other implementation tasks.
On-site Consulting is purchased per 8 hour day and includes all travel
and expenses incurred by the service consultant. Consultants are
available to discuss your specific project tasks and provide estimates
on the amount of time required for completion.
TNCARE Online Training
Online Training is available to train your technicians on specific

topics related to the installation, configuration and maintenance of
your Transition Networks equipment. An interactive Webinar format
is used to convey training topics and provide verbal interaction with
the instructor. Online Training is purchased by the hour and can be
customized to include instruction on the topics of your choice.
TNCARE On-Site Training*
On-site Training is available to train your technicians on the

installation, configuration, and maintenance of your Transition
Network equipment. On-site Training is purchased per 8 hour day and
includes all travel and expenses incurred by the instructor. Training
can be customized to include the topics and equipment used at
your facility. Training classes are limited to 20 students to ensure an
effective class.
*Travel and expenses incurred by the service consultant are included
in the United Kingdom, continental US and Canada. Additional charges
will apply for mainland Europe and other regions.
TNCARE Fast Hardware Replacement Service
The Fast Replacement service reduces the time it takes to get

warranty replacement products in your hands. With this service, once
a product has been determined to need replacement by one of our
support technicians, a replacement product is shipped within one
business day to arrive as quickly as possible, eliminating the up to
20 business days associated with a normal warranty repair. Products
covered by the Fast Replacement service must be under warranty,
and the service is purchased for specific equipment that is identified
by serial number.
