Foreign affairs takes on new meaning. German royalty favored traditional marriage - a traditional

CUNT KEPPEL AND THE MYTH MAKERS

Keppel set the trap for him and Bertie was ensnared in it. It would cost him more than his legacy

bed scene, she lied about it to the public.

Not only did she disrupt the precious last moments between the Queen and her dying husband, the
King, she crashed his funeral as well. Without being invited, she got on her houre and rode up

gets negative attention, as long as he gets attention of some kind. She was a true energy vampire -

narcissism is a defense mechanism whose role is to deflect hurt and trauma from the victim's
"True Self" into a "False Self" which is omnipotent, invulnerable, and omniscient. This False
Self is then used by the narcissist to garner narcissistic supply from his human environment.
Narcissistic supply is any form of attention, both positive and negative and it is instrumental in
the regulation of the narcissist's labile sense of self-worth.

Perhaps the most immediately evident trait of patients with Narcissistic Personality Disorder
(NPD) is their vulnerability to criticism and disagreement. Subject to negative input, real or
imagined, even to a mild rebuke, a constructive suggestion, or an offer to help, they feel injured,
humiliated and empty and they react with disdain (devaluation), rage, and defiance.

Due to their lack of empathy, disregard for others, exploitativeness, sense of entitlement, and
constant need for attention (narcissistic supply), narcissists are rarely able to maintain functional
and healthy interpersonal relationships.

Many narcissists are over-achievers and ambitious. Some of them are even talented and skilled.
But they are incapable of team work because they cannot tolerate setbacks. They are easily
frustrated and demoralized and are unable to cope with disagreement and criticism. Though some
narcissists have meteoric and inspiring careers, in the long-run, all of them find it difficult to
maintain long-term professional achievements and the respect and appreciation of their peers. The
narcissist's fantastic grandiosity, frequently coupled with a hypomanic mood, is typically
incommensurate with his or her real accomplishments (the "grandiosity gap").

What is Pathological Narcissism?

Primary Narcissism, in psychology is a defense mechanism, common in the formative years (6

months to 6 years old). It is intended to shield the infant and toddler from the inevitable hurt and
fears involved in the individuation-separation phase of personal development.

Secondary or pathological narcissism is a pattern of thinking and behaving in adolescence and

adulthood, which involves infatuation and obsession with one's self to the exclusion of others. It
manifests in the chronic pursuit of personal gratification and attention (narcissistic supply), in
social dominance and personal ambition, bragging, insensitivity to others, lack of empathy and/or
excessive dependence on others to meet his/her responsibilities in daily living and thinking.
Pathological narcissism is at the core of the narcissistic personality disorder.

The term narcissism was first used in relation to human psychology by Sigmund Freud after the
figure of Narcissus in Greek mythology. Narcissus was a handsome Greek youth who rejected the
desperate advances of the nymph Echo. As a punishment, he was doomed to fall in love with his
own reflection in a pool of water. Unable to consummate his love, Narcissus pined away and
changed into the flower that bears his name, the narcissus.

Narcissistic adults are widely thought to be the result of bitter disappointment, of radical
disillusionment in the significant others in their infancy. Healthy adults realistically accept their
self-limitations and successfully cope with disappointments, setbacks, failures, criticism and
disillusionment. Their self-esteem and sense of self-worth are self-regulated and constant and
positive, not substantially affected by outside events.

Research shows that when an individual (at any age) encounters an insurmountable obstacle to his
or her orderly progression from one stage of personal development to another, he or she regresses
to his infantile-narcissistic phase rather than circumvent the hindrance (Gunderson-Ronningstam,
1996).

While in regression, the person displays childish, immature behaviors. He feels that he is
omnipotent, and misjudges his power and that of his opposition. He underestimates challenges
facing him and pretends to be "Mr. Know-All". His sensitivity to the needs and emotions of
others and his ability to empathise with them deteriorate sharply. He becomes intolerably haughty
and arrogant, with sadistic and paranoid tendencies. Above all, he then seeks unconditional
admiration, even when he does not deserve it. He is preoccupied with fantastic, magical thinking
and daydreams. In this mode he tends to exploit others, to envy them, and to be explosive.

The main function of such reactive and transient secondary narcissism is to encourage the
individual to engage in magical thinking, to wish the problem away or to enchant it or to tackle
and overcome it from a position of omnipotence.

A personality disorder arises only when repeated attacks on the obstacle continue to fail --
especially if this recurrent failure happens during the formative stages (0-6 years of age). The
contrast between the fantastic world (temporarily) occupied by the individual and the real world in
which he keeps being frustrated (the grandiosity gap) is too acute to countenance for long. The
dissonance gives rise to the unconscious "decision" to go on living in the world of fantasy,
grandiosity and entitlement.

The dynamics of narcissism

Primitive defense mechanisms

Narcissism is a defense mechanism related to the splitting defense mechanism. The Narcissist fails
to regard other people, situations, or entities (political parties, countries, races, his workplace) as a
compound of good and bad elements. He either idealises his object - or devalues it. The object is
either all good or all bad. The bad attributes are always projected, displaced, or otherwise
externalised. The good ones are internalised in order to support the inflated (grandiose) self-
concepts of the narcissist and his grandiose fantasies - and to avoid the pain of deflation and
disillusionment.

The narcissist pursues narcissistic supply (attention, both positive and negative) and uses it to
regulate his fragile and fluctuating sense of self-worth.

The child, fearful of further rejection and abuse, refrains from further interaction and resorts to
grandiose fantasies of being loved and self-sufficient. Repeated hurt may lead to the development
of a narcissistic personality.

masturbation and sexual fantasies to mature adult sex and daydreaming to real life achievements.

 ...a new research conducted by Keith Campbell at the University of Georgia and Jennifer Bosson at
the University of South Florida reveals that, in fact, these persons are indeed not in their right
mind as in fact they regard themselves the same on the outside as on the inside.

No wonder that constant contact with such a specimen leaves you bustling with resentment.

They may be in constant need for attention (in a group they won't let anybody but themselves
speak, and even when they do, they don't listen) or they posses an unfounded sense of entitlement;
but we attribute many times their shallow behavior to an unconscious self-loathing.

Previous researches suggested that narcissists' conscious self-views are balanced, being not
uniformly positive: they regard themselves as being better than others in areas like status,
dominance and intelligence (the agentic domains), but not in communal domains like kindness,
morality, and emotional intimacy.

The researchers checked the link between narcissism and unconscious self-views in these agentic
and communal domains: if they really have self negative image they should unconsciously dislike
themselves equally from their intelligence to their level of intimacy in relationships. Narcissists,
however, have positive unconscious self-views on the agentic (but not communal) domains.

An Implicit Association Test was employed to assess the subjects' underlying views on their self-
esteem, agency and communion. This method records reaction times to computer-based word
associations and the subjects were not aware that their self-esteem is being assessed during all this
time.

The team found that narcissists do not uniformly dislike themselves "deep down inside": they
displayed positive unconscious self-views in agentic domains and not in communal ones. Thus
narcissists have a psychological condition: they are somewhat imbalanced at both conscious and
unconscious levels.

the [Foreign] Office talks as if we had but one enemy in the world, and that is

To gather support for war, enmity must be fostered towards an object of disdain. In doing so, the
nationalistic energies rally around the leader of the “just cause” against that very enemy. When
war is manufactured, like with any lie, the test of time will not uphold the the myth upon which the
war was based. The pieces of the puzzle will not fit together as they do when truth at issue. Just
wars require just leaders and just causes. Anything built upon a foundation of lies will also

prestige both would be trampled by establishment of a French protectorate, but Bulow as

King Edward VIII’s use of Keppel in diplomacy with the Kaiser was a violation of his duties to

treasonous by both the British government and the FBI.

In 2002 the British Government commissioned the Joint Intelligence Committee to prepare a
dossier on Iraq's weapons of mass destruction, and the dossier, which, among other things,
presented a 12-year-old college thesis as fresh intelligence, asserted that Iraq could put biological
and chemical weapons in the air within 45 minutes of an order to do so. Dr. David Kelly, an
employee of the Ministry of Defence's Defence Intelligence Staff and a former UN weapons
inspector who'd been to Iraq 37 times, was skeptical of the 45- minute claim, though apparently in
favor of the invasion of Iraq.

Meeting in May, 2003 with Andrew Gilligan, a BBC reporter, Dr. Kelly expressed his
dissatisfaction with that claim, whose inclusion in the dossier he blamed on Alastair Campbell,
the Director of Communications for Prime Minister Tony Blair. Gilligan broadcast in his report
that the Government--that is, Blair and his people--had been responsible for putting the 45-minute
claim in the dossier, accusing Campbell in particular. Kelly, supposedly feeling that Gilligan had
misrepresented him somewhat, admitted to the Ministry of Defence (MoD) that he had talked to
Gilligan. The MoD made public enough information that journalists were able to identify Kelly.

Before the Foreign Affairs Select Committee (FAC), Kelly denied some of the remarks attributed
to him. Members of the Committee were also concerned about similar statements made by another
BBC reporter, Susan Watts, whose source Gilligan had already identified before the Committee as
Dr. Kelly also. Though Kelly and Watts had tried to distance themselves from responsibility for
the Campbell accusation, a tape of their conversation surfaced. Kelly may have become
aware of the tape immediately before his death on July 17, 2003.

Pressure mounts on Blair after death of weapons expert

British Prime Minister Tony Blair faced calls to resign on Saturday after police confirmed the death
of the weapons expert at the centre of a row over a government dossier used to justify war in Iraq.

apparently slashing his own wrist. A knife and a packet of painkillers often used in suicides were
found near the body.

Kelly, 59, was a Ministry of Defence consultant on biological weapons and a former UN arms

His family said he had been under "intolerable pressure" after being grilled on Wednesday by a
parliamentary committee examining the row over a BBC report that a February dossier on Iraq's
alleged weapons of mass destruction had been "sexed up" by aides to Blair.

Kelly denied being the source for the story but admitted briefing Andrew Gilligan, the BBC defence
correspondent whose report triggered the high-profile and still-unresolved row between the
government and the national broadcaster.

Blair, currently in Japan, refused to comment on the implications of Kelly's

death pending the outcome of a judicial inquiry he has ordered.
