A few days later I found myself inside the borders of Necrovion. There I met the
strangest creature. It had the shape of a man, yet it didn't seem human. It was
a creature of darkness and shadows. He offered me a deal. Power in exchange for
an item that was given to me in my first days in this realm. I refused but he g
ifted me with something anyway. In parting he told me we would meet again one da
y.
A week later I joined an elite Necrovion alliance, The Tainted Warriors.
This group was severely diminished recently. Only king Jester and Rasiel were me
mbers at that time. I had found Rasiel in the heart of Necrovion but she had cha
nged.
To this day I am unsure of what happened to her. Perhaps it was the strain of th
e knowing of things to come that became to much for her. Perhaps it was the land
itself that got to her.
What ever it was, she had become quite mad. Still an oracle but much darker and
unpredictable in her actions. She had made her home in a place called Caves of T
orment and although she recognized me, she did not seem to remember the times we
had before I left on the Knators mission.
INNER CIRCLE
Time passed and one day Peace announced she would start an excavation in Berserk
ers Charge, the Necrovion graveyard. The purpose if this was to find a cube that
was lost there long ago. The expedition lasted many weeks. People from all over
the realm came to assist or just to have a look. I was invited to join and so b
ecame part of Necrovion s inner circle. After weeks of digging the Shade Sentinel
appeared. It was weary of me because of my affiliation with the Knator commander
, but did me no harm. Some who were in the graveyard when the Sentinel arrived w
ere tainted in a strange way. The implications of this only became clear to me m
uch later. King Jester left me in charge of the alliance so he could speak with
the Sentinel alone. After this meeting the king's behavior became increasingly e
rratic and unpredictable. He left me in charge of most daily business to persue
his own agenda. One day he left Necrovion and joined the Seal of Six alliance in
the east lands. He never told me why. His insanity must have gotten the better
of him in the end.
Strange things were happening in all the realms. The possessions of those tainte
d by the Shade Sentinel. The deaths of kings and abolishment of monarchies. A tr
aitor destroying the Necrovion Sentinels alliance. All lands were in disarray in
some way. But Necrovion was hit hardest. The king's leaving angered the Demon L
ord. He made the Howling Gates nearly impassable and ordered the Void Seeker to
destroy what was left of Necrovion's social and political structure. Our remaini
ng alliance was taken and all citizens removed from the land. When the dust sett
led, only a handful of us were left.
Peace and I used the remaining tool we had to restore citizenship to the loyal N
ecrovians that were left before that was taken as well. We gathered our people a
nd started preparations to make something of this new situation. In retrospect,
perhaps I should have acted before Jester fully left Necrovion. Perhaps I could
have prevented the worst. But as I sit here in this Dark Hall, mulling over the
past, I can't help but feel it was for the best that I didn't. Now we could star
t over, a clean slate... alright, a slightly tarnished one. Still, our biggest c
hallenges were yet to come.
A NEW NECROVION
Through a wish granted in a most unexpected way the Tainted Warriors alliance wa
s returned to us. Now we had a symbol of our nation again and others came to joi
n with us. Soon our alliance had all its seats filled. Though this was an altoge
ther different breed of Necrovian. More in tune with Inner Necrovion if that mak
es sense to you.
Several times we were attacked by those that meant to destroy us. Twice our alli
ance was taken by treachery and misplaced trust. But each time we won it back an
d emerged stronger and more close knit than before. And also a little more wary
to outsiders each time. Perhaps you've heard it said that Necrovian society has
become a hive. Personally I believe its loyalty to each other and an idea. But i
f there is any truth in it, it started here.
Near the end of year 6 two important things happened. The first was a deal I mad
e with the Demon Lord. He owed me something he seemed reluctant to part with at
the time. And I was searching for a weapon I could use to defend our people. So
I offered to remit his debt to me in exchange for power. We negotiated for sever
al days and eventually came to an agreement. This is how I became the first to a
cquire the lock in chaos spell. To this day I don't regret making that deal and
I believe I made good use of it.
The second important thing happened during one of those alliance take overs. Sin
ce I was without alliance and homeland again, I decided to do an experiment. I w
ent to Golemus Golemicarum and joined the Fusioneers guild. We had been friends
with them since their creation. So I became a Golemite. Yes you can laugh now...
As soon as Yrthilian, the former king of Golemus, found out he jailed me. When
this became known it was widely regarded as flagrant power abuse and the ensuing
argument gave us an interesting view of the inner workings, or rather lack ther
eof, of Golemus leadership. After a week or so the matter was resolved by the Co
uncil. I was released from jail and all remaining kings tool and related powers
were taken from the ex monarchs. An unexpected but welcome side effect.
In the fifth month of year 7 after talking with the Demon about it, we created t
he first group who's members can all be summoned with one item. The Death Guard.
A significant boost to our defenses. Small and not so small changes happened in
the realms. Time passed relatively peaceful for a while.
Then by the end of that year something happened I still consider a turning point
. It started with a conflict with a small but powerful faction. This little scra
p went largely unnoticed by the general public but could have become very nasty
and expensive. Fortunately it was resolved with diplomacy. As a result however I
had to take a more public stance as a Necrovian leader. Something I admittedly
had been trying to avoid until then. I wrote and made public the introduction fo
r prospect citizens and the rules in regard to our tools and resources. Then som
ething happened that had a profound effect on all of us. Something in the heart
of Necrovion had changed. Strange as it seems, the shades appeared to have sent
us a message. "we still watch, we still see" it said. We considered it a good si
gn.
A MONARCHY AGAIN
On day 30 of year 8 the Demon Lord hosted a meeting at Tranquil Plains. Everyone
in the realms was invited to come and discuss this world's situation and its fu
ture. Near the end of this gathering the Demon called me out and Peace as well.
He declared us officially married and pronounced us king and queen with all priv
ileges and powers. And so Necrovion regained its monarchy. The other main lands w
ere encouraged to form a government system of their own and soon all four had so
me form of official leadership again.
In the ninth month of that year another attack was launched on us by someone who
called himself Kerberos. This one was different. A war of assassins. But we wer
e ready for it. I will not go into the details of it here because you can find m
ost of it in the adventure logs.
