Introduction

The chemical engineering of faculty of Engineering and the built Environment conducted
th Pengurusan Kokurikulum MPU 3442 which is a compulsory subject for chemical
engineering student to participate. The sport was led and coordinated by Dr Wong Voon
Loong, Ms Nazlina and Ms Aida. All students will register the co-curriculum module by
themselves. They are divided into groups according to the type of sports selected. The
student committee was assigned accordingly.
All committee members were elected by students in each group. Each and every
committee member has their responsibility to carry out. A total of 16 participants joined
the badminton team instead of the limit of 15. Sport equipments which consist of rackets,
shuttlecocks and net were provided.

Co-curricular activities are the components of non-academic activities that complement


what student learn in their main syllabus. Co-curricular activities play an important part
in educational institution as they gain experience and skills other than from classroom
learning. Educational institutions should not only stress academic development but also
balance opportunities in other fields which allow students to develop skills for personal
growth. Furthermore, these activities enrich college life and develop sportsmanship.
Students can explore the interest and passion, as well as to learn and enhance their skills
in sports.

The main objective of this co-curricular activity is to emphasize the importance of


physical health among students as most do not participate in any sports or exercise.
Physical health can be beneficial to quality of life and improves studies. Students were
also taught about safety rules when carrying out sport activities. Students also gain
understanding in sportsmanship, teamwork and cooperation during practices. Students
also applied their learned knowledge in badminton into real life sport practice and
competitions. Students with knowledge in badminton also taught other students to
familiarize themselves in badminton.

As part of this co-curricular objective, students are expected to improve knowledge and
skill in badminton. Students were exposed to correct technique and rules of the game.
Students will also appreciate the value of participation sport activities. Indirectly, students
may develop personal and interpersonal skills through interaction and working with team
members. Students from different classes will get to know each other by this
participation. This promotes friendship among members and they learn and play together.
Students are encouraged to demonstrate enthusiasm and strategies that leads to enjoyable
participation. Participation in enjoyable activities can reduce stress from studies and
foster a fun learning experience.
