How Much Money Can I Save?

of savings you can expect.

50% less energy, ENERGY STAR
dishwashers use 30% less energy,
ENERGY STAR clothes washers

more efficient motors, and are built with
more energy efficient features than standard
models. But they’re worth it – the addi-
tional cost is quickly paid for with energy
savings. Watch for products with the
ENERGY STAR Logo to assure the appli-
ance is energy efficient.

models qualify for rebates from
Elk River Municipal Utilities.

dehumidifiers use 15% less energy than
standard models. By using these percent-
ages and information from the
Energy Guides, you can esti-
mate your annual savings.
When shopping for an air con-
ditioner, be sure to ask about
the seasonal energy efficien-
cy rating (SEER). The mini-
mum for a central air condi-
tioner rebate is now 14 SEER.
Heat pumps are also rated by
this method. The higher the
SEER, the less it costs to oper-
ate!
ENERGY STAR rebates for the following :
Air Conditioners = Rebate varies depending on
the Seasonal Energy Efficiency Rating (SEER). 14
to 14.9 is $180, 15 to 15.9 is $280 and 16 and
above = $330. ENERGY STAR window air con-
ditioners qualify for a $35 rebate.
Heat Pumps = 14 SEER or higher air-source heat
pump rebates are $200/ton and geo-thermal heat
pump rebates are $400/ton.
Dehumidifiers = ENERGY STAR dehumidifiers
qualify for a $25 rebate from ERMU.
Dishwashers = ENERGY STAR dishwashers
qualify for a $50 rebate from ERMU.
Refrigerator = ENERGY STAR refrigerators
qualify for a $50 rebate from ERMU. If you recy-
cle your old working one, add another $25.
Clothes Washers = ENERGY STAR clothes
washers qualify for a $50 rebate from ERMU.
Those that conserve water (have a water factor 4.5
or lower) qualify for $75
Electric Water Heaters = ERMU will rebate
$300 for new electric water heaters with an
energy factor of .91 or higher when used in our
Off-Peak Water Heating Program.
Furnace Fans = Furnaces with electronically com-
mutated motors (ECM) qualify for a $100 rebate
from ERMU. Retrofitting an existing furnace
with a new ECM or equivalent = $50.
The number of rebates is limited.
