Simple and safe procedure

1
Preparatory drilling
Select the special penetration drill
and use it to penetrate the root
canal along the entire length of the
cutting flutes, minus the depth of the
prepared retaining box.
If Phase 1 fails to give a result
allowing precision drilling (Phase
2) to be started, the canal can be
pre-calibrated using the special precalibrating drill (REF C 0214) for all
lengths of root post with a diameter
of 1 mm at the tip.

Precision
drilling

Inserting the plastic

burn-out post

Prepare the canal to its final size

using the blunt tipped special calibrating drill.
Advance using small steps to prevent jamming. Stop when the terminus of the guide preparation can
be felt.
Drill once only!

To test the fit of the plastic post,

insert it into the prepared canal
without pushing it in completely.
The conical portion of the root post
now inside the canal should occupy
the same position within the canal
as that previously determined by
the cutting section of the precision
calibrating drill.
Push the post in completely, ready
for taking the impression.

Selecting the root post

Perfect fit with the
help of the template
on the x-ray
Choose the correct size of root post (REF C 215U)
by placing the transparent drawing over the
radiograph. The corresponding instruments are
then chosen in accordance with the root post
thus selected, and are colour-coded for easy
identification: same colour for post and drill!
The coloured grooves on the instruments shank
indicates the order in which the drills are to be
used.

5.1

Before taking
the impression

Taking
the impression

Trying in the post

before luting

If several posts are to be used in a

single tooth, check that their heads
cannot interfere with each other
during insertion.
The impression tray must not be
allowed to touch the head of any
post.

Inject the impression material into

the retention box and around the
root post (or posts). When you
remove the impression tray, remove
the post from the canal and reposition the head into the impression.

After casting in metal, cut a flat all

the way along the post, extending
this flat by a groove running under
the base and along the side of the
retaining box. This allows excess
cement to escape, and to ensure
perfect sealing of the built-up tooth.
It is also possible to replace the
burn-out plastic post using a GEMETRIC root post in precious
metal. These are manufactured by
Metalor.

5.2
Clip
A distinct clip will be heard
when the head of the post
engages the impression.

7
Reconstruction

Build up the tooth in the usual way.

Perfect repositioning
with the clip head.

Colour - coded drills

and posts for easy identification.
