4. SNAP Healthy Bucks

Last year, this program was offered at 6 farmers markets. At
these locations if someone spent at least $2.50 with their own
SNAP money on produce they received an additional $5 to go towards more produce. The Dept. of Social Services is the implementing agency, and they are working to expand this program
this coming market season. If you know of a farmers market or
direct selling farmers market who wants to learn more or participate they can contact Krystal Chapman at DSS: krystal.L.chapman@dss.sc.gov. Heres a link to more info about the
program, based on the pilot implementation last year: http://

5. Hunger Project video Brad Fleming shared about Feeding
Children Everywhere. The cost to an interested group to host a
hunger project is 25 cents per meal. Groups can decide who gets
the meals. For more info: http://

6. Other updates or announcements from group

- The community eligibility provision is an option for high poverty
schools and school districts. Opting in allows participating
school and school districts to offer free meals to all students.

Agenda with Minutes

Goals for now through the summer

To create and meet via the following subgroups:
1. Advocacy: To determine an advocacy agenda for the group
2. Summer Feeding: Recruiting more summer feeding site partners for Richland 1 and Richland 2; to explore how we can
help support the expansion of summer feeding sites in other
counties
3. Community Eligibility Provision: Helping spread the word
about this option for eligible schools and school districts.
4. Backpack Programs:To recruit more sponsors for this program
for next school year.
Recruiting more people to the group
It was suggested to recruit colleges and universities since
some students are impacted by hunger (for example, USC has a
food pantry for students on campus)
Next meeting date
To be determined.
