Hymn of Praise

7:30 a.m.

1 John 3:1-2; 11, 14-24 (MSG)

Verse 1
I was sinking deep in sin, Far from
The peaceful shore, Very deeply stained
Within, sinking to rise no more;
But the Master of the sea heard my
Despairing cry, from the waters
Lifted me, now safe am I.

Chorus
Love lifted me, love lifted me,
When nothing else could help,
Love lifted me. Love lifted me,
Love lifted me, When nothing
Else could help, Love lifted me.

Verse 2
All my heart to Him I give, ever to Him
Ill cling in His blessed presence live,
Ever His praises sing. Love so mighty
And so true merits my souls best songs;
Faithful, loving service too, To Him belongs.

Verse 3
Souls in danger, look above,
Jesus completely saves; He will lift you
By His love out of the angry waves.
Hes the Master of the sea, billows His
Will obey; He your Savior wants to be
Be saved today.

What marvelous love the Father has extended

to us! Just look at itwere called children of
God! Thats who we really are. But thats also
why the world doesnt recognize us or take us
seriously, because it has no idea who he is or
what hes up to. 2-3But friends, thats exactly
who we are: children of God. And thats only
the beginning. Who knows how well end up!
What we know is that when Christ is openly
revealed, well see himand in seeing him,
become like him.

For this is the original message we heard:

We should love each other.
11

The way we know weve been transferred

from death to life is that we love our brothers
and sisters. Anyone who doesnt love is as
good as dead. Anyone who hates a brother or
sister is a murderer, and you know very well
that eternal life and murder dont go together.

14-15

This is how weve come to understand and

experience love: Christ sacrificed his life for
us. This is why we ought to live sacrificially
for our fellow believers, and not just be out
for ourselves. If you see some brother or
sister in need and have the means to do
something about it but turn a cold shoulder
and do nothing, what happens to Gods love?
It disappears. And you made it disappear.

Unison Scriptures
My dear children, lets not just talk about
love; lets practice real love. This is the only
way well know were living truly, living in
Gods reality. Its also the way to shut down
debilitating self-criticism, even when there is
something to it. For God is greater than our
worried hearts and knows more about us than
we do ourselves.

18-20

that ye may prove what is that good, and

acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

6:00 P.M.

LUke 8:49-56 (niV)

While Jesus was still speaking, someone came
from the house of Jairus, the synagogue leader.
Your daughter is dead, he said. Dont bother
the teacher anymore. 50Hearing this, Jesus
said to Jairus, Dont be afraid; just believe,
and she will be healed. 51When he arrived at
the house of Jairus, he did not let anyone go
in with him except Peter, John and James, and
the childs father and mother. 52Meanwhile, all
the people were wailing and mourning for her.
Stop wailing, Jesus said. She is not dead but
asleep.
49

And friends, once thats taken care of

and were no longer accusing or condemning
ourselves, were bold and free before God!
Were able to stretch our hands out and
receive what we asked for because were
doing what he said, doing what pleases him.
Again, this is Gods command: to believe in his
personally named Son, Jesus Christ. He told
us to love each other, in line with the original
command. As we keep his commands, we live
deeply and surely in him, and he lives in us.
And this is how we experience his deep and
abiding presence in us: by the Spirit he gave
us.
21-24

11:00 A.M.

RoMAnS 12:1-2 (kJV)

They laughed at him, knowing that she was

dead. 54But he took her by the hand and said,
My child, get up! 55Her spirit returned, and
at once she stood up. Then Jesus told them to
give her something to eat. 56Her parents were
astonished, but he ordered them not to tell
anyone what had happened.
53

I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the

mercies of God, that ye present your bodies
a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God,
which is your reasonable service. 2And be
not conformed to this world: but be ye
transformed by the renewing of your mind,

Infertility Awareness Week Litany

MINISTER: To the God of all creation, the One that spoke humanity and the whole world into
being. We thank You for Your gift of life and for all of Your many blessings.
PeoPLe: Lord, we humble ourselves before you and acknowledge your sovereignty as we unite
our voices together and stand on the covenant you spoke to Abraham, Sarah, Rachel, hannah,
elizabeth and Zechariah when you told them that they would be blessed with a child.
MINISTER: We lift up our voices in solidarity and in faith believing that You will honor and bless
couples/women in the United States who experience infertility.

MINISTER: Please grant healing and hope for those who have suffered the loss of a child through
miscarriage, who have not experienced success with Assisted Reproductive technology, those
waiting for a child via adoption, and those who may not be able to have a child.
PeoPLe: Lord, lift the spirits of your people and breathe new hope into their lives.
MINISTER: Bless us to be a bridge for programs that increase public awareness of the challenges
of infertility. We ask that You would bless us to be a voice to advocate for the reformation of
reproductive health care disparities and that You would open doors for access to comprehensive
coverage for health care and treatment.
PeoPLe: Lord, bless us with wisdom to learn how to be present, give us the words to speak and
bless us with hearts of compassion to listen as well as support women and couples impacted
by infertility and to support those who dream of being parents and raising children with loving
hearts
MINISTER: Today, we lift up our voices and pray for those who call on You with their hearts and
unnecessarily suffer in silence; for those who hide behind fear and shame because of cultural
norms or lack of information and education about infertility and reproductive health; for those
who lack of support and access to treatment and services.
ALL: Lord, make us instruments of your service. Allow those who are experiencing infertility
to experience the hope and encouragement of Christ through us. We ask that you would grant
the gift of a child for these couples either through natural conception, assisted reproductive
technology, or adoption. We submit this request to you, in the power, name, and authority of
the Risen Savior, Jesus the Christ. So it is, AMen!

Now Were Here
A hookah is a single or multi-stemmed instrument for
vaporizing and smoking flavored tobacco called shisha,
in which the vapor or smoke is passed through a water
basinoften glass-basedbefore inhalation. In other
words, it is smoking tobacco through the use of a
water pipe.

Consider this:

Coronary heart disease and stroke are the primary types of cardiovascular diseases caused by hookah
smoking

Smokers are almost twice as likely to have a heart attack compared with people who have never smoked

Recent studies have shown a direct relationship between tobacco use and decreased bone density

The heavy volume of smoke from hookahs may also cause chemical irritation of the lungs, leading to or
worsening allergy-induced asthma

Waterpipe smoking is likely to be a cause of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)

Hookah smoking by pregnant women can result in low birth weight babies. (In 2010, the Washington
Heights community led the entire city in the percentage of low-birth weight.)
The Endeleo Institute is focused on Health, Education, and Community Development. The number of cancer-related
deaths is already disproportionately high in our communities. This is a clarion call to parents, teachers, counselors,
business, and community leaders; and, of course, our young people, to the dangers of alternative nicotine products.
The hope is that the findings from a nationwide survey of more than 20,000 high school and middle school students
accelerate federal efforts to increase oversight.
Nicotine is dangerous for children of any age. But, unlike traditional cigarettes, e-cigarettes are available in dozens of
flavors, including fruit and candy. They are also advertised on television, something that has not been allowed in TV
commercials since 1971. Thus, please be aware that our children are emulating athletes and entertainers (like the
rapper, Drake pictured above) and could indeed be endangering the long-term health of a whole new generation.
Lets call this a wrap!

According to the Wall Street Journal, the use of

Hookah and e-cigarettes (battery-powered devices
that heat nicotine-laced liquid and turns it into vapor)
is rising among both high school and middle-school students. The Center for Disease Control (CDC) warns
that hookahs are at least as toxic as cigarettes.
