Former Manalapan mayor sentenced to 5 years in prison

JEAN MIKLE @JEANMIKLE
TRENTON Former Manalapan mayor Andrew Lucas was sentenced to five
years in federal prison Friday for his
part in a questionable land deal that netted him nearly $1.2 million in taxpayer
money.

you because of bad decisions I have
made, Lucas told U.S. District Judge
Freda L. Wolfson. At no point did I be-

anyone.
Lucas, 37, was convicted Sept. 18 for
11 federal crimes, including wire fraud,
aggravated identity theft, falsification
of records and loan application fraud.

of your intelligence and education decided to go about doing what you did, Judge
Wolfson told Lucas, who graduated from
Princeton University with an economics

degree. You have tremendous family

support. You received an education anyone would be envious of. You had it all going for you.
Lucas wife, Brianne, wiped away
tears as the judge sentenced her husband. The couple have three young children, including an infant, Lucas lawyer,
Mario F. Gallucci, said.
Lucas was serving as Manalapan
