Audio Keys &


Function Keys

Customising your terminal

Modifying your personal code


1. Using the Up-down navigator, navigate to
Settings
2. Press OK, then scroll to Options
3. Press OK, then scroll to Password
4. Follow the spoken instructions to change your
password
5. To return to home page, a long press on the
Back/Exit key is required

Lock/unlock your telephone


1. Using the Up-down navigator, navigate to Lock
2. Press OK
3. Depending on the displayed information, enter
either your password or confirm (default is
1515)

AUDIO KEYS

Hang-up key: to terminate a call.

Hands-free/Loudspeaker Key: to make or answer a call


without lifting the receiver (Alcatel 4018).

Intercom/Mute key: press during a conversation so that


your correspondent can no longer hear you

Terminal idle: press to answer calls automatically


without picking up the receiver.

Plus and Minus keys: To adjust the loudspeaker or


handset volume
FUNCTION KEYS

Messaging key: if the key flashes, a new voice or text


message has been received.

"Redial" key: to access the "Redial" function.


NAVIGATION

Up-down: use to navigate in the home page for


Information on the status of the set, date and time, set
programming and configuration functions.

OK key: used to validate your choices and options

Back/Exit key: to return to previous menu (short press)


or return to first screen (long press). You can also use
this key to correct a character you entered.

4. Press OK to adjust Melody, and use the Updown navigator


5. To select desired melody. Confirm your selection
with OK.

1. Scroll to Volume, press OK, and use the Updown navigator to select desired volume.
Confirm your selection with OK.

Adjusting screen brightness


1. Using the Up-down navigator, navigate to
Settings
2. Press OK, then scroll to Phone
3. Press OK, then scroll to Contrast
4. Using the Up-down navigator, adjust the contrast
5. To return to home page, a long press on
Back/Exit key is required

Identifying the terminal you are on


1. Using the Up-down navigator, navigate to Who
am I
2. Press OK, and the system will display your
telephone number
3. To return to home page, a long press on the
Back/Exit key is required

Adjusting the audio functions


1. Using the Up-down navigator, navigate to
Settings
2. Press OK, then scroll to Phone
3. Press OK, then scroll to Ringing

Basic Functions

Making a call
Choose the method to suit:
A) Lift the receiver; or
B) Press the Handsfree button; or
B) Press the programmed line key; or
C) Dial the number for your call
Note - to make an external call, dial 0 before dialling
the telephone number

Receiving a call
Choose the method to suit:
A) Lift the receiver; or
B) Press the Handsfree button; or
C) Press the key adjacent to the button programmed
for incoming calls

Transferring a call
1. Caller rings in, and is answered
2. Dial the extension number or 0 followed by the
external number
3. Use the Up-down navigator to scroll to Transfer
4. Either announce the call, or simply transfer and
the call will ring
5. through on the transferred number

Redialling
Press the Redial button

Group Pickup
Dial * 6 to pickup another call from within the group

Direct Call Pickup


Dial # 6 followed by the extension number

Checking voicemail
If the Voicemail key flashes orange, a new voice
message or new text message has been received
1. Press the Voicemail key
2. Using the Up-down navigator, scroll to Voice or
Text
3. Press OK

During a conversation
Calling a second person during a call

While on a call, dial the number of the second party.


The first caller is automatically placed on hold.

Three-way conference
While the first party is on the line:
1. Dial the second caller. The first caller will be
placed on hold.
2. Use the Up-down navigator to scroll to
Conference
3. Press OK
4. Press the Release key to hang up on all
correspondents

Directory

Using call by name


1. Long press the Phone book key
2. Enter the first letter of the name
3. Using the Up-down navigator, scroll through the
names
4. Make the call by pressing OK

Programming the keys in the personal phone


book
1. Press and release the Phone book key
2. Use the Up-down navigator to select a key to
programme (numbers 0 to 9)
3. Press the Guide key
4. Press OK
5. Follow the onscreen instructions

Calling via the programmed keys in the


personal phone book
6. Press and release the Phone book key
7. Press the programmed key directly (0 to 9)
OR
8. Use the Up-down navigator to select the
contact to call
9. Press OK to start the call

Placing a call on hold


1. Press and Park key
2. To retrieve a parked call press the Parked key

Cancel all diversions


1. Using the Up-down navigator, scroll to Forward
2. Press OK
