Work is the basic right of UAE Nationals.
Non-nationals are not allowed to work until they
posses professional or educational qualities required in UAE and their employer had obtained
the working permit.
If UAE National are not available first preference
to work must be given to Arab Nationals and
then comes other nationals.

Employers can always hire unemployed Nationals,


after hiring the employer must inform the Labor Department in writing the details of employee including
the number of registration certificate.
Before employing non nationals the employer must
get approval from the Ministry of Labor and Social
Affairs and obtain an employment permit. The employment permit will only be granted to those workers who have professional or educational competence required in UAE and they have not entered
the country illegally.
Working Women

Female workers employed for less than one


year must be entitled to 45 days half pay maternity leave.
Females workers during the 18months following their delivery must be entitled to two additional breaks of half an hour every day,
which must be considered as part of working
hours.
Females must not be discriminated on the basis of gender and must be paid at he same rate
as males for the same job.

managerial and technical staff level or in health services where the female worker does not have to
engage in manual work.
Women must not be employed for hazardous,
physically or morally harmful jobs .

including pre and post natal periods.
