A population's views on political issues may change as different circumstances occur each day.
The environment around us has a powerful influence on the decisions that we produce and the

views that one person choose to hold. Today I will explain what influenced my political ideology
and why my political view is.
When this class initially began I was sure, without a doubt I was a conservative. As the semester
progressed I discovered the reasons I was considered conservative. As a girl who was born and
raised in Asia country called the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, the way I was raised as well as
my social class, age, gender and the race have a strong influence on a my ideology. I knew I was
conservative because I was raised with certain morals that still exist in my family today even
though I was study in America for 2 years. More than 15 years with my family in Vietnam that
make me what I am today who was socially and fiscally conservative but supportive of
government efforts to protect the environment. As a student, I was been taught at very early age
that I needed to obey and believe in my teacher, my parent and government without hesitation.
As I grew older and made friends out of my city, I found that most of the friends that I made had
same views as me. So I started to realize that because all of us lived in the same communist
country, our political view is not much different. However, being a teenager and very confused
about the matter I talked to my family about these issues and I found that there are still a
different political views between me and my parent. In general, I believe that the differences
were caused by generation gap. Especially, for those people like me who has a chance to study
abroad in America, I tend to have a little different political view than my parent or people that
was born in same era as my parents. Evidence once again that social class and education had an
influence on a person's views. Based on the quiz on PEW Typology, I am a main street
republican in America. My own particular political ideology is quite simple. I believe in the
right of individuals to pursue their lives with a minimum of interference from government or
others who would try to tell us how to live our life. In other words, I believe we need a

government to make thing under control, but not only very every corner of our life. I believe that
most people, regardless of race, religion, gender, gender orientation are quite capable of living
their lives without guidance from government, or any other political group.
I am conservative by nature which means I wont jump off the bride with a rubber band to my
ankles any time soon. My own political ideology as a main street republican can be considered as
a gateway for affecting my political views in United States. I believed that homosexuality should
be discouraged by society simply because this is just not right by nature. I completely understand
that there are special cases for those who were born with gender confusion. But our society
should not widely support it because it makes people think that this is normal and nothing wrong
with it in the long run. If we think about it more carefully, by supporting the homosexuality, we
all agree to have more and more homosexuality cases in future and we know that this is just not
right.
I dont believe in special care for minorities. I am not racist. It is not right on the idea that
minorities are incapable of competing as equals and so, therefore, special privilege must be
given. I acknowledge that some minorities start from a disadvantaged position but I would prefer
to helping them rise up to meet a standard than to lower standards to accommodate them.
I acknowledge the need for a criminal code to protect us from criminal who try to harm us. But I
do not believe that we require government to protect us from ourselves. I mean that If someone
do not wear a helmet when they ride a motorcycle, it is their own problem if something happen
to them. This has nothing to do with government. I also totally in gun control in United State
where we should need very strict control regarding of so many gun shooting incidents happen
recently.

MY POLITICAL IDEOLOGY

I believe that everyone is responsible for their own lives and that the state does not owe people a
living. I accept and support the need for the state to provide assistance to those most in need
within our society but that does not include, in my mind, tax credits for families who has so
many children.
The way I was born and raised as well as my education in United Stated for two year has been
influent my political ideology. As a main street republican, I do not say that other view is wrong,
but it just the way I see and believe in life.
