InstalltheDell CompellentvSphereClientPluginonacomputerwiththeVMware
vSphereClientsoftware.

Prerequisites

VMwarevSphereClientmustabletoconnecttothevCenterServer.

VMwarePowerCLIisinstalledonthesamehostasthevSphereClient.

VMwarevSphereClientisclosedwhileinstallingtheDell CompellentvSphereClient
Plugin.
Note: Unlessstatedotherwise,allproceduresinthisguideareexecutedinthe
vSphereClient.

Steps
1 DownloadtheDell CompellentvSphereClientPlugininstallationfilefromthe
Dell Compellentcustomerportal(support.dell.com/compellent).
2 UnziptheDell CompellentvSphereClientPluginfileontothevSphereClienthost.
3 Launchthe.msifileandfollowtheinstructionsinthewizard.
4 Wheninstallationiscomplete,logontothevSphereClienttoverifythattheplugin
installedsuccessfully.Ifthepluginisinstalled,aDell CompellentStorage Centericonis
displayedintheSolutionsandApplicationspane.
Note: ToverifythattheDell CompellentvSphereClientPluginisenabled,see
DisablingandEnablingthevSphereClientPluginonpage 4.

Afterinstallation,theDell CompellentvSphereClientPluginisautomaticallyenabled.

Disable the vSphere Client Plugin


UsethePlugininManagertodisabletheplugin:
1 InthevSphereClient,selectManagePluginsfromthePluginsmenu.ThePlugin
Managerdialogboxappears.
2 RightclickontheCompellentvSpherePlugin,andselectDisable.Thestatusofthe
pluginchangestoDisabled.
3 ClickClose.

Enable the vSphere Client Plugin


UsethePlugininManagertoenabletheplugin:
1 InthevSphereClient,selectManagePluginsfromthePluginsmenu.ThePlugin
Managerdialogboxappears.
2 RightclickontheCompellentvSpherePlugin,andselectEnable.
3 ClickClose.

OncetheDell CompellentvSphereClientPluginisinstalled,configurethe
Dell CompellentStorage CentersthatyouwanttomanagewiththevSphereClient.

Add a Storage Center


AddaStorageCenterfromtheCompellentStorageViewoftheDell CompellentvSphere
ClientPlugin
1 LogontothevSphereClient,andclickHomeinthemaintoolbar.
2 IntheSolutionsandApplicationspane,clickCompellentStorage Center.The
CompellentStorageViewappears.
3 IntheleftcolumnunderStorageSystems,select[AddNewSystem].
4 IntheStorage CenterSettingsbox,provideidentificationfortheStorage Centerthat
youwanttoadd:

Host:EnterthehostnameormanagementIPaddressfortheStorage Center.

UserName/Password:EntertheusernameandpasswordfortheStorage Center.
