CALENDAR COURSE DESCRIPTION:


An inquiry into the nature of sexual behavior, its personal, familial, and societal implications.
REQUIRED TEXTBOOK:

COURSE OBJECTIVES:
As a result of participating in lectures and class activities, and completing the readings from the
textbook, the student will demonstrate:
1.

A knowledge of historical and cultural influences on current issues related to human


sexuality

2.

A knowledge of information on various topics in the area of human sexuality and an


awareness of the application of these to a healthy sexual lifestyle

3.

An awareness of the role of personal and cultural values as they relate to sexual decisions
and behaviours

4.

An understanding of sexuality in the context of human development and interaction.

The Mid-term exam will cover the material up to and including the May 20th presentations
Sexual Techniques & Behaviors and Sex Toys and Devices. This exam is worth 40% of the
course mark and will consist of multiple-choice questions. The final exam will be worth 55% of
the course mark and will also be multiple-choice questions.
The final exam will cover materials from the entire course.
PLEASE NOTE:

Any student who is unable to write the mid-term exam will have the
weight of that exam added to the final examination.

Self Evaluation 5%
In a course of this size it is difficult for the instructors to evaluate students as individuals.
Therefore students are asked to complete a self-evaluation worth 5%. Complete the attached
form and submit to the instructor on June 9th. Your self-evaluation will be accepted as submitted
unless it is significantly better than your midterm grades and observed classroom participation, in
which case you may be asked to meet with the instructor.
