Assessment: Contemporary Developments in HR Artefact Exhibition


Introduction
One of the challenges facing HRM in the 21st century is changing the perception of the role,
scope and purpose of HR and HR Professionals within the workplace. As future managers,
HR specialists and employees you have been set the following;
You are expected to design and develop ONE artefact which can be used to educate, inform
and change the perceptions of non-HR people about the role and purpose of HR.
You have a choice from the following topics:

The adoption of e-recruitment practices for attracting a wider pool of talent


Adopting employee voice practices to improve employee motivation
Adopting a holistic reward strategy to retain employees
Implementing strategies to reduce stress and anxiety in the workplace

Implementing a strategy to develop emotionally and socially intelligent leaders
Adopting practices to overcome victimization, harassment and discrimination against
those who are perceived to be different in terms of sexuality and sexual identity

The composition of the artefact is as follows, it is split into three areas, you have a choice of;

Within your artefacts it is expected you draw from relevant academic literature from journals
and relevant websites.

As this is a contemporary developments in HR module you are expected to use


contemporary up to date evidence (2010 to present), therefore it is expected you do not
really use text-books. You need to also consider the professional literature (from pressure
groups; the CIPD; Government agencies) to inform and help design of the artefacts.

The completed artefacts are to be handed in HARD COPY e.g. paper copy for the literature
review and poster and for the presentation/audio/video then please put it on a disk to submit.

Assessment Criteria
The University of Sunderland Undergraduate Criteria will be used to assess this assessment
and in addition;
Relevance: the extent to which you have design artefacts which express and explore the
chosen contemporary development in HR.
Originality: the extent to which there is evidence of insight and originality in the artefact.
There is evidence of analysis, evaluation and critique of the artefact using a range of
evidence to support your proposals.
Creativity and Imagination: the extent to which the artefacts are insightful, imaginative,
creative and communicate to other HR professionals the significance of the contemporary
development
