“Deregulation is the only panacea to the problems facing the oil sector in Nigeria”. (To
be typed and should not be less than 500 words)

DEREGULATION IS THE ONLY PANACEA TO THE

PROBLEMS FACING THE OIL SECTOR IN NIGERIA.
Nigeria’s oil sector has experienced lots of problems. The price for
petroleum has increacreased rapidly and solutions are being sought to
eradicate this problem. As it seems, Deregulation is the only panacea to
solving the problem in the oil sector.
Deregulation is the removal or simplification of government rules and
regulations that constrain the operation of market forces. It is when the
government seeks to allow more competition in an industry that allows ner-
monopolies.Deregulation does not mean elimination of laws against fraud,
but eliminating or reducing government control of how business is done,
thereby moving toward a more free market.
Deregulation is not the same as Privatisation. It would help create a
market environment that would make it easy for the government to sell
the country’s refineries as planned. The Nation cannot continue with
expenditures on subsidies .Nigeria has recorded low grades because
government agencies were not committed to national development.
Deregulation has shown to have positive effects on the other sectors o the
economy.
