Philippine Long Distance Telecommunications also known as PLDT is said to be
the largest telecommunications company in the Philippines. It is also the leading telecommunications service provider in entire country. With a wide range of services across the Philippines, it offers the most extensive fiber optic backbone and fixed line. Even though there is a wide and wanton changes happening around the world, there is one will remain steadfast, their company commitment of serving the nations and providing communications solutions to every Filipinos. What the new law hoped to achieve was to interconnect these "intercom" systems into a seamless nationwide network that would facilitate communication and delivery of services to the people, as well as spur economic development in the countryside. Today, Manuel V. Pangilinan is the Chairman of the Board of PLDT and Napoleon L. Nazareno is the President and CEO. We are really blessed and grateful to have plant visit in a company that is really related to our course. Knowing for a fact that PLDT is one of the famous telecommunications company, if not the most, it is really a big pleasure for us to conduct a tour even if it is just their sub-office in Paraaque. The plant tour started. After a talk to our coordinator, we are instructed to go into a place where it is called the Main Distribution Frame, also known as the MDF room. Guess what we saw? From what we expected, it is almost the same, just not that the feeling of being amazed and dont forget the chill of too much aircon. And maybe the reason to that is the maintainance of equipment in good condition. The feeling of likeness to be in a Telecom company is what I had felt inside. Let me tell you what I saw, there were wires, posts, towers, boxes and shelves connecting to each other. At first I am a bit odd but after the information has given, we are become mindful. It is told to us that this solid wires coupled to each routes is a way of telephone coupled to PLDT server. Also impart of it is the records, the duration and signal it possess. The wires in each shelves is called the Krones; inside of it are ports where you can actually record the conversations that you had. This becomes more interesting for us because it is something that might be useful and different. This, we had learned that this room is the genuine connection all subscribers of PLDT to each other. This plant tour makes me really want into the field of Telecommunication. Maybe not for the salary from what I heard but for information that this will imposed to me, maybe this plant tour serves as a reminder. BS ECE V-1
