Gay Marriage
Thesis Statements:
• Granting legal marriage rights to gays and lesbians would threaten the stability of
the family, a pillar of our society.
• Granting legal marriage rights under the law must extend to gays and lesbians to
ensure that all citizens enjoy full human rights.

Some of the issues in this argument:

 Should society encourage traditional values and traditional forms of family life?
 Should employee benefits be offered to people with domestic partners?

 Should we tolerate discrimination against gays and lesbians in employment or

housing?

 Should our government enact legislation to strengthen and support traditional

families -- like a constitutional amendment defining marriage as a union between
a man and a woman?

 Should we provide the same rights to gay and lesbian couples that are currently
only afforded to heterosexual couples -- the right to marry, adopt and receive
benefits?

What..?! Does He Marrying Him..?

All we know that a woman should be married by a man. But can you
imagine if a man marrying another man? Or imagine when a pretty
woman marrying another woman. That is an unusual tradition, at least
for the normal human. How this happened? And why they did it?
Recently, American government has authenticated regulation
concerning gay and lesbian marriage. For some people, this right
would threaten the stability of the family. As we know, family is a pillar
of our society. It would bear new clans who become a router of the
family. A new clan can only be produced from an intimate union (sex)
between a man (husband) and a woman (wife). That is impossible for
homosexual couples. This threat would annihilate the society of a
nation step by step. Current people would die, while there is no new
clan whom inherit its family.

There is nobody known their objective to legalize the regulation

exactly. The government said that the regulation made to ensure that
all citizens enjoy full human rights. They may be forgotten of the long-
term impact. Their civilization would vanish.
Homosexual tradition can’t be tolerated wherever it happened.
Because of that is not a normal thing. In a religious country like
Indonesia, the discrimination would be applied to everyone. In a
country which has a religion value, homosexual is a taboo tradition. So
everyone would fight against the departure in their area. The different
condition would be seen in a federal country like America. The society
can accept this departure since its not disturbing their daily activity.
As an Indonesian people, we must realize that this case is not a
simple problem. Our government should enact a rule to prohibit the
departure. Traditional family must be supported by a constitutional
amendment describing marriage is a union between a man and a
woman. The civil code of Indonesia has defined that a marriage can
only happen between a man and a woman (The Civil Code of Indonesia
No 1/1973). That is authentic evidence that Indonesia has limited the
marriage rule in the country.
This situation is impossible to be changed, at least in a few times.
So, that abnormal tradition should be encouraged by the society to tell
them how a traditional form of family life is. They must also be told
how to understand the value of tradition in their life. They should be
convinced about their future: what if they were sick? What about their
death? Are there someone prayed for them? Thereby they would be
realized that having a family is very important for their life.
Another way to change the bad tradition is never provide the same
rights for gay and lesbian couples to marry, adopt, and receive
benefits. The same rights can only enlarge and enhance the departure
more and more. In this case, they would feel safe and comfort because
of no one could advise them. This method would limit their habit to
searching for domestic partners at least reduce its spreading. So there
is no way except to looking for the opposite gender to meet their
sexual need.
Nowadays is time for gay and lesbian couples to realize that their
habit is unusual. They can not apply their tradition wherever they like.
If they want to be accepted in their society, they have to try making a
change. Because of life is a choice.
