CLIMATE
Cancun is located on the eastern coast of the continent, which is
influenced by warm ocean currents, particularly the Gulf Stream of
Mexico, which fosters a warm and rainy climate.
The climate of the municipality Benito Juarez is included in group A,
type Aw, that is warm humid with rains all year, but most abundant in
summer.
The average annual temperature ranges from 25.5 degrees Celsius. The
total annual rainfall ranges between 1,000 and 1,300 millimeters.
Predominant winds from the east and southeast; during the summer the area
is affected by tropical storms and cyclones. The hurricane season begins
in mid-June; Most affected are the months September and October.
GETTING HERE
The Cancun International Airport is the second largest, and the most
international traffic received in Mexico. Is the most important for
Airport Group Sureste (ASUR).
It has two operational landing tracks more than 1,500 m apart allowing to
be used simultaneously, and three commercial terminals. Terminal 1 is
used by charter flights from North America, including local charter

GETTING AROUND
Once you arrive in Cancun and you are tired of sitting at your hotel,
there are a number of transport options for exploring the city.

Buses:
Run round the clock 10.5 pesos per ride. American coins are not accepted
and larger bills are hard for them to change. When you pay for your ride,

you will be given a small paper ticket. Hang on to this, as many times
there is a discount at local shops. If you miss one, dont worry; another
will be along within minutes. The buses that run in the hotel zone are
mainly R1 and R2, either one will take you back and forth between
downtown and the hotel zone. The quality of these busses range from older
without air conditioning to new, air conditioned coaches with TVs and
WiFi.
Taxis:
From the airport to anywhere: exclusive-taxis charge non-negotiable
US$40.00 or MX$400.00 (pay in any of the taxi stands inside the airport).
From anywhere to airport: feel free to negotiate, but expect about
MXP$200.00 pesos.
Taxis will not issue receipts, except if you buy within the airport taxi
stand.

SHOPPING
A sprawling market-bazaar runs along the east side of Tulum Avenue.
As Mexicos most popular tourist destination. Cancun offers all sorts of
shopping experiences. This has brought an abundance of upscale malls and
designer boutiques to Cancun. The flea markets, where tourists like to
stock up on inexpensive souvenirs, are still very popular as well.
In addition to the malls in Cancuns Hotel Zone, theres the
favorite, Coral Negro Flea Market, where Mexican souvenirs abound.

Kukulcan Plaza is the most exclusive and luxurious shopping center in all
of Cancun and the Riviera Maya. It is located in the Hotel Zone, where
the main Five Star and Grand Tourism hotels are situated.
In Cancun you pay the lowest prices in Mexico on items such as perfume,
spirits, and fine jewelry.
Cancun is a duty-free zone; Cancun Airport has opened two modules that
offer tax returns. There is approximately a 40 day period, for the money
to be paid back electronically.
Shopping hours are generally weekdays 101 and 47, although more stores
are staying open throughout the day rather than closing for siesta. Many
shops keep Saturday-morning hours, and some are now open on Sunday until

NIGHTLIFE

heart of Cancun nightlife is in the clubs. Popular places like Coco
Bongo, Dady Os, the City and Dady Rock are staples in any Cancun
vacation.

from $20 $40.
