Mother Teresa was one to show a lot of compassion; in this essay, she proves that to

her readers. Back in 1910 Mother Teresa was born. In time, she became a teacher at St. Marys
High School for girls. At St. Marys she taught geography and catechism. One day she
claimed to receive a message from God. Her message was to care for the sick and the poor,
being a nun she was obligated to follow. Therefore, she later traveled to the slums of India,
Calcutta. She then begins her mission to show her greatest quality, her compassion.
In 1952, Mother Teresa created an organization, Nirmal Hriday; Nirmal Hriday was
the first home to be opened by Mother Teresa. The purpose of Nirmal Hriday is to help cure
the dying. Compassion is shown because Mother Teresa was willing to open the home and
help others besides herself. On the first day of opening, Mother Teresa found a lonely
woman on the streets. She was half eaten by rats and ants. Mother Teresa showed her
compassion by helping this woman off the streets. Each day the nuns of Nirmal Hriday go
onto the streets and help the homeless and sick. The patients of Nirmal Hriday are treated
with real medical care and cared for while staying there. With the help of Nirmal Hriday
and Mother Teresa, the streets are a better place to be.
A couple years later, in 1955, Mother Teresa opened Nirmala Shishu Bhavan; Nirmala
Shishu Bhavan is a home for kids abandoned or unwanted by their families. The home
provides shelter, food, and medical care. It is also open for adoption, and welcomes kids that
are special needs, destitute, and ill. If a kid hits the age limit of 22, or is never adopted they
are provided education, shelter, and a selected marriage. This truly shows compassion from
Mother Teresa because she showed sympathy for the orphans and was willing to find a way
to help.

Shanti Nagar was opened in September 1997, but that wasnt when Mother Teresa
identified the problem. She identified the problem a little while before, the problem was the
Leprosy disease. The Leprosy disease is a disease that leads to disfiguration, and damage to
the nerves, limbs, eyes, and skin. Those who are infected by the disease lack love and charity.
They often feel unwanted; and are neglected by their families. Mother Teresa found the
solution to this problem by being compassionate to the cause. She helped create the mobile
hospital; the mobile hospital is a hospital on wheels. Eventually Mother Teresa opened
Shanti Nagar, The Place of Peace. Shanti Nagar is a colony of lepers. At the colony, each
leper is cared for not only by medical care, but also by love. Mother Teresa shows
compassion by having a desire to help the lepers when no one else would, and by opening
Shanti Nagar.
In conclusion, Mother Teresas greatest character trait was her compassion; she took
her pride and joy, and put it into her work. Even though she is not here to help, she still
carries on through the organizations she started. You dont need a personal message from
God like Mother Teresa; all you need is to look around and see where love is needed.
Anyone can help make Mother Teresas dream continue just help the world around you.
