Personal statement

I have always been fascinated by the world that surrounds me. Especially by the way
such a large quantity of countries concur in issues as important as the Human Rights
that seem to be embraced by the majority of the nations. Behind these overwhelmingly
crucial treaties and the organizations which regulate them, reside the importance of the
International Relations.
This concernment started the year I first studied Geography and Economics at school, I
get used to read international newspapers, becoming more aware of problems and
beginning to think about possible solutions to these issues. Since then, I have
determined to study International Relations because the function that international
mediators achieve is something I really feel passionate about, and the subjects studied
in this degree such as politics, economics, or law, are subjects that kindle my an unusual
enthusiasm and interest. I certainly think this degree is ideal for me to study, as I am a
really communicative and expressive person, genuinely good at problem solving and
very friendly.
One of the advantages of having studied in a religious school, is that my education has
been supported with Christian moral and ethical values, something essential to become
a good professional. Since I was 5 years old, I have attended extra-curricular activities
such as languages classes. As a result, I am fluent in Spanish, English and Catalan, I
have an acceptable level of German and I know the basics of French. In order to
improve my knowledge of these languages, I have been to several summer camps in
Germany, Switzerland and Ireland, where I had the chance to learn about other countries
culture and habits, and to make friends from all over the world. I really enjoyed this
periods abroad and the experience of living in other country. I play the piano and
practice Golf, these activities have taught me the necessity of being hard-working and
methodical to accomplish your goals. I was also given the opportunity to work in the
Fiscal department of a lawyers office as a secretary where I had to contact clients to
inform them about their financial situation and respond accordingly. It was a revealing
experience because I did not expect the job to be as demanding as it was, but I really
enjoyed it and I am very eager to repeat the experience.
Effort is the key to success, and I will always push to my limits in all the aspects of my
life, because, as Thomas Alba Edison said, Genius is one percent inspiration, ninetynine percent perspiration
