The mystic worldview of spiritual energy we see through our heroines point of view
is a keystone of the video, and we emphasize with intense stylization. Presented
through full-spectrum as well as infrared photography, we give our heroines
experience an unmistakably unique palette. Using filters we can achieve practical,
in-camera effects that drive home her familiar yet otherworldly perception.
In addition to effects and environment, we distinguish our heroines two
perspectives through props. She carries a sack full of trinkets which on the outside
seem mundane, but they erupt with extruding, geometric designs that come alive
once viewed from her point of view. Though her perspective is otherworldly, we
also want it to feel tangible, and theres no substitute for crafting physical objects.
Using Autofuss in-house design and shop capacities we can 3D print the extruding
geometry, laser engrave runic patterns, and install lights inside objects for real,
practical effects that will drive our story forward.
Footage of the band bridges our three acts. Kinect cameras scatter thousands of
dots across the room, including onto the band members. These dots are visible only
through the infrared lens, which we will capture along with some supplemental
graphic projections that bathe the image with fill light and color. This gives us a
visual reprieve from the otherwise intense environmental palettes, and bridges not
only the story but the two execution methods used elsewhere in the film.

Establishing shots of the forest in sync with Claps
super wide-angle to start
then cut to textural details of trees / macro leaves / moisture / fog
slow movements
Each cut moving closer to a point in the forest
0:06
we see a grouping of simple geometric objects
they are spilled contents of a bag
we trace their path
they lead us to a girl
shes sleeping in a bed of grass and foliage
next to the bag
We survey her hands twitching in a closeup
Shes dreaming something profound
Her hair is at rest in the grass
0:15
The girl slowly wakes up in forest
her eyes brilliantly colored
abnormally so
she slowly rises up
with an intense stare into her surroundings
something isnt normal with her perception
but we dont know what it is
Shes in a long dress
and has a shiny piece of jewelry around her neck
she reaches down and puts the geometric objects back in the bag
one by one
0:30
a pair of spheres
a glossy diamond
a pair of flares embedded in custom casings
0:35
a strange tablet with inscriptions on it
she pauses on the inscriptions on the tablet
taking them in as she stares at them
0:38
she puts the tablet in the bag and slings it around her shoulder
finally she grabs a wooden block
with a spherical recess cut into it
she stands and holds it out
it guides her
as she hesitantly walks through the forest
the camera follows her
shes marveled by her surroundings
as we see her studying the forest
0:44
we match cut to her POV and see a unique stylization of her surroundings
her POV takes us into a different reality
cut back to the outside, she looks down at the object in her hand
in her POV the block has an old compass embedded in the spherical recess
0:55
she raises the compass up in the air
and heads into the forest
with more purposeful intention
as shes being guided by this device

LOCATIONS
LOC AT IONS
The story will be told using two primary locations, the beautiful redwood forests of
northern California, and a stunning beach setting south of the Santa Cruz coastline.
The redwood forest is our main location and provides atmospheric lighting,
textures, and an intensely saturated palette. The lush vegetation drives home the
infrared aesthetic, and amplifies the contrast between audience and POV stylings.
The final act takes place at the beachfront where we want to create a magical
spectacle of both characters united in ceremony during sundown. We love the look
of the sun hitting the wet sand, bouncing intense color around to light the frame
in surreal ways. An alternate location for the final act would be hot springs, where
steam plumes lend a much more magical setting.
Its our goal to augment the environment at all times, including use of LED panels
and projectors to illuminate the frame and give a surreal quality to the aesthetic we want all the footage to feel surreal and highly stylized. Our characters gesture
using smoke flares and illuminated geometry during their ceremonial dances,
which will be shot at high-speed to intensify the look and feel of the rituals.

FILM TECHNIQUE
FILM TECHNIQUE
We will shoot the audience narrative using a standard RED Epic camera package
and superspeed, ultra-prime lenses. We will focus on capturing majestic wideangle shots that magnifies the beauty of our locations, and will compliment those
with an assortment of textural macros and long-lenses to drive home an intimate
experience with our characters.
We will capture the POV narrative through the usage of infrared and full-spectrum
photography, where we will modify a RED One camera to enable this unique
aesthetic. We will also place stylized filters over the lens to give a dreamy, highlyaffected look that will emphasize we are looking through our heroines eyes. Lastly,
in grade we will experiment greatly with channel mixing and advanced processing
to render a variety of remarkable looks.

CASTING
C A ST ING
Our heroine must carry the story with not only her acting talent, but also her
physical movements in dance and ceremony. We are not seeking a magazine
model-type, but rather a girl with a nature-connected, nymph-like presence.
She should have ample experience with acting and dance, as well as a
spiritually-informed sensibility that she can bring to the shamanic elements
of the film.
For the male figure we want to cast a weathered, slightly haunting character
with an atypical face. He should look like a spirit-being from the woods with
unwashed hair and a long beard.. He will also have to be comfortable with
physical acting and activities like running, as he has a variety of physical
cues.
