Sensor Cap with GSM and GPS tracker

INTRODUCTION:

Purpose:

The main purpose of this research is to help the visually impaired individuals
in the most comfortable way. It aims to make the user do the job or action in
ease. It also intends to help the user notify the guardian urgently whenever a
serious situation is needed to be attended. And at the same time, this
research aims to increase the safety of the user.

Background:

Not all people are capable of seeing and hearing, as well as feeling the
surroundings and environment we are involved on. Some of us were born
blind or deaf and definitely cannot act normal as most people do. In this case,
past researches sprouted and led to the invention of canes, which could help
the visually impaired individuals to go through different places without being
hurt. But, theres still seemed to have a problem. These individuals could not
go to those places without the cane. So we, the researchers came up to this
thought and studied how we could make it easier for them.

Scope:

This report will cover the vibrating and sensing mechanism of the sensor and
the notification factor of the guardian. In addition, this will cover the physical
action of the user, externally specifically. And, this research will not cover any
remedy of the disability of the user.
DISCUSSION:

Approach:

The proposed solution to the problem is to make a device which could detect
certain objects near the user. The sensor device will be assembled in a cap
(like a baseball cap used by the players). We choose caps instead of any other
types because it is easier to instruct how it must be worn and at the same
time, be more convenient and a user friendly device. The controller will be on
a separate location which can be worn also on the middle part of the body, on
the hip specifically, so that the user could reach and maneuver it in the most
comfortable way. We will also make the circuitry of the device separated in its
own zippered compartment to keep the user from touching the actual circuit.

Result:

Since the sensor is placed overhead, it functions as the eye of the user.
Whenever an obstacle will be encountered, the mini motor will vibrate to
notify the user, one for each left, right and front side. As the obstacle gets
nearer, the motor vibrates more. Also, the device has a GPS tracker so it
would be easier to find places. On the other hand, an earpiece is included and
must be worn. It functions as a narrator which could instruct the user in what
direction to proceed. The device also includes Global System for Mobile (GSM)
so that the user could notify his/her nearest guardian whenever help is being
needed. The user will only push one button and a text message will be sent to
the guardian. The cap has also a solar panel so that the user could use the
energy coming from the sun instead of the batteries stored on the device.

Statement of
Work:

The researchers will conduct an experiment regarding the sensors. Since the
user is visually impaired, the researchers must know the distance from which
the vibrator motor will work on, as well as the sensitivity of the sensors. We
will be testing also the exact frequency of the sound that must be delivered by
the earpiece so that the user could use it safely.
CONCLUSION:

Summary:

This study benefits those people who suffer blindness. This research is
conducted for the ease of daily life of visually impaired individuals. This
lessens the risk of the user from getting in danger since the device is made to
function as a protector and second guardian, as well as notifies. This is also for
the welfare of the person taking care of the disabled from looking after the
user each and every moment of time. In addition, it simply makes the lifestyle
of the user be different from the usual way of living of blinds and to make
them feel as normal people do.
