Dear Secretary Myers:

The New Mexico Corrections Department is requesting to participate in the Delegation of Authority
Program pursuant to 287(g) of the Immigration and Nationality Act. My staff has met with agents from
ICE who have explained the process and I fully approve of our partidpation.

With this project, we will identify identification review officers at each of the fadlities who have a
reception and diagnostic center: Central New Mexico Correctional Fadlity and the New Mexico Women 's
Correctional Fadlity. These are botIl of the oentral processing fadlities for male and female inmates.
One is located in Los lunas and the other in Grants, New Mexioo.

We are oommitted to training qualified correctional staff with at least two years of experience and who
have passed a security background aa:eptable to ICE.

Training will be either at the Corrections Academy or at each of the fadlity sites whereby the instructors
will be able to utilize oomputer training aids, videos and any other materials they may need fur
instruction.

This program will allow us to enter into a Memorandum of Understand that will enable us to partldpate
with ICE in identifying aiminal illegal aliens who pose a risk to the dtizens of New Mexioo. I look
