Volume 2, Issue 1

The Official Publication of Holy Trinity School of Padre Garcia Bats. Inc, Lipa Branch

A.Y. 2014-2015

Last February 6-8 of this

year, 50 private and public schools across the
country participated in
the 12th National Science
Quest held at Pasig City.
The 3 day contest aims to
promote academic excellence in Science and create camaraderie and
sportsmanship
among
students and coaches.
Aside from the prestige of
winning, this competition
also provides a venue for
the students where they
can develop their poten-

tials, apply what they have

learned and boost up their
confidence to fully show
their skills and knowledge
in such learning area.
Fortunately, HTS participated in this contest and
congratulations to Bea
Cassandra De Ocampo
of Grade 5 St. Anthony for
securing the SECOND
PLACE in the Science
Quiz Bee Category. Despite the nerve-wrecking
competition that brought
her to tie-breaker questions from District, to Di-

vision, to Regional and TO GOD BE ALL THE

it on top. She received
a trophy and certificate
on the last day of the
event.
May this award inspires
her and our school to
strive for excellence in
the coming years as it
signifies all the hard
work and commitment
exerted by De Ocampo
and her coach Ms.
Jovelle M. Harina during their reviews.

Its been a privilege

for our school, not just to
be part of the Science
Quest , but also to be included to those who made
it on top. And just recently, another student triumph in the Science Quest
Regional Level. The
fourth year student, ANGELA MAE V. CASTILLO won as the SECOND PLACE WINNER in
the Collage Making Contest in the said event that
was held at Holy Nazarene
School, Tanza, Cavite last
November 2, 2014. This
was joined by different
competitive schools all
over the region.

Castillo prepared
for almost a month for this
competition under the supervision of her Science
teacher Miss Jovelle M.
Harina. During the said
competition, all contestants were given two hours
to create an artwork using
indigenous materials that
will best reflect the theme
about the environment.
And fortunately, the creative hands and imaginations of Castillo reached
the expectations of the
judges. This shows that
success will always be
achieved by those who are
determined, dedicated and
have faith in God.

Children begging for

food, young girls holding
their babies while pleading
for money, people asking
for alms; these are very
usual scenes that we can
observe in our society. It is
very evident that mendicancy is really a problem
that must be solved.
In 1978, an AntiMendicancy Law or also
known as Presidential Decree 1563 was issued by
former President Ferdinand Marcos. This law
aims to "control and eradicate mendicancy", as well
as to promote social justice and protection of life,
property and dignity of the
country's citizens. How-

ever,
the
number
of
mendicants in
our country is
still growing,
most
especially during
Yuletide Season Why? For
it
wasn't
strictly implemented by the
authorities and theres
lack of centers that can
accommodate high number of beggars that can be
rescued. And since it is
not being executed, Filipinos are ignorant about this
law and continue giving
alms to those beggars. But
just recently, a number of
cities, including ours
headed by city Councilor
Joel Pua, pushed a stricter
level of this law. If you'll
be hearing about this law
for the first time, you
might be against it. What
we simply want is to help
those who are in need, as
we have learned open

As the school principal, Holy Trinity

School has been providing quality education for almost 5 years. This institution serves as the nurturing haven of youth where their pillars of
learning are moulded and
strengthened to be competent
enough in the different aspects
of life. Lots of improvement
were implemented by the administration. Aside from
chapel and library, speech lab
was also established. There are
many changes, the new mission and vision of this school
are considered the most important part of innovations.
And now, this second issue of
our school paper is an evident
progress of our institution. May

government needs to protect the people, not only
the beggar from indignities and deprivation but
also the public from abusive and rowdy beggars.Give a man a fish

enough. It would be best if
government provides
enough institutions where
they can stay and be
taught different works so
in due time, they'll be able
to live on their own and
raise their families. They
may be physically able,
but because of being illiterate, they cannot find any
other source of living.
We might get annoyed
by these people, but lets
open our mind to understand. If you'll be in their
position, physically able
but still helpless, what
would you do? In the
country where basic costs

of food and necessities are

rapidly growing while employment opportunities are
still low, can we blame
these people if begging is
their last resort?

Dear Editor,
On the last school year, our first ever newspaper called 'Communique' had been a big success.
That is a great achievement for the institution
most especially for the students.
I'm extending my boundless gratitude to the
editorial board for being one of the keys in this
achievement. I hope that you'll continue being an

Filipinos suffer from a

lot of catastrophes- earthquakes, landslides, flashfloods, and typhoons which
are major threat to life,
property and even economy.
PAGASA announces that
we have to expect more or
less 20 storms yearly. And
for that, we may accept the
fact that two or three of
these typhoons will be disastrous event. And the questions that we can always
hear Are we really ready or
prepared for these disastrous
events? Are the government
officials and agencies doing
their job in protecting the
people?
I doubt that they are not
prepared. I doubt that the
Local Government, agencies
like PAGASA and
NDRRMC and even the
people are not ready for
these disasters. The Local
governments provide equipment and evacuation centers
that can be used; they have
people who are well-trained
in taking precautionary
measures and they prepare
relief goods that will be
needed by the victims and
casualties.
On the other hand, PAGASA and NDRRMC are
doing also a great job. Time
to time they are informing
the public about the condition of the typhoon before it
hits the country, as it hits
the country and even after it
landed. Even they are also

victims (which some cannot actually realize),

theyre still going to their
offices and doing everything that they can, in all
means, just to update the
people.
Filipinos are used to typhoons and so I can say,
we citizens are also ready
for these. By the time we
heard about the incoming
typhoon, one or two days
are enough

for us to set the basic

things that we need and to
do what we have to.
But, in spite of these
preparations, our country
can still experience repetitive destructions. The Government or even I cannot
give an exact solution for
these, because typhoons
are typhoons. But I can
say, lets not use those
times to blame each other
and to question anybodys

pillar when those two creatures appeared. They

were staring at me like they were trying to give a message. I heard a voice
saying a name. Ashe. I didnt mind at first, but mysterious voice again
called me. Ashe.
That was too creepy so I answered, Wh-who are you? Nervous and
afraid, thats all I knew I was.
Giratina and Arceus, they answered.
Why am I here? What
Youll know enough soon, they replied just before I finish my
question.
Youre being chased by Darkrai and his army, Giratina said, You
should know the reason... that youre the chosen one, the creature continued.
Why me? I asked, annoyed.
Keep calm dear. Theres a special reason why you can defeat Darkrai
and the legion. Just trust yourself and oh, your partner, the mightyMightyena, I was fully confused, I want to give up though I still do not
know the whole story on why I should do this. I really dont want to fight
them if ever I have to.
Train your partner and also yourself. Never panic. Two versus the legion.
Remember, you are not doing this for yourselves. This is for
your family, the whole world as well, Giratina explained.
You two will go down in history. The heroism you will bring to the
world will be bethink by its men, Arceus told us. Were they just trying to
encourage us to fight or what?
Think again on what weve told you, they said together than suddenly vanished into bright light.
I, again, felt the pain. I screamed then woke up. What was my
dream? I mean before I finish my sentence, Mightyena barked. I looked
at the window and saw water. We were moving. No the compartment.
Where are we? I asked. I went out then saw that we were in a ship. The
sailors a zombie. Everyones a zombie. We had to ride or just be still inside
the cabin. There, I think back on what Giratina and Arceus on my dream
told me. We have to train each other, they said, so thats what we did. Serenely, from this dawn to dusk, trained Mightyena and so did he to me. We
practiced, we helped one another, I was so glad Mightyena certainly learned
new powerful attacks. And I think I became a better trainer.
Since Mightyena is dark type, it will be better if well gonna fight
this night, wont it? But also, so what are we waiting for Mightyena? Lets
make this battle over! Lets go! I exclaimed. We ran fast through the door
and quickly, Mightyena, use Roar first! I yelled. He roared together with
the thunder. The zombies got alarmed. They all went out, glaring on us and
slowly walking. Seemed that they wanted to attack us. Now Mightyena,
Hidden Power, a large yellow ball was thrown from him to the zombies.
Half of the legion fell on the water, Another Hidden Power Mightyena,
now the legion were dead. All of the zombies. But still, there is Darkrai. We
had to find him. We ran down to the bottom of the ship, but before we had
our first step on the stairs, Darkrai rose.
What do you think youre trying to do? he said with pride.
Mightyena growled very angry.
And you? What do you think youre doing to the world? I
bravely asked him. He smirked evily. The thunder roared again. Mightyena
use before Mightyena attacked, he went first which made us thrown
away. I lean on the wall. My bones were breaking, Darkrai laughed.
Show me what youve got, kiddo! The thunder roared loudly. I saw two
bright lights behind Darkrai while he was still laughing on us. Darkrai was
shocked because of the bright light. He looked back and saw Giratina,
Theyre real! I whispered. They combined their power and threw it to
Darkrai. He yelled then fainted. As his size became small, the light grew
bigger until we saw light from everywhere. Giratina and Arceus vanished. I
heared combined voices. These are Giratina, the Ruler of the Distortion
world and Arceus, the Creator. You did what you must. You saved your
family, the world and everyone. You are the champion, together with the
mighty-Mightyena, we grinned.

Its hard to lose a man,

but its harder to lose a
friend.
Friends, friends are
always there when
you need them;
either
good
times or bad
times, even if
youre rich or
poor.
They
are
there
when
you
need a shoulder
to cry on or someone to laugh
at. Friends are
there when you need
someone to talk to,
to talk about their
crushes, your secrets and also your
epics moments.
How can you
find
friends?
Friends can be
found in school,
streets,
your
hometown, they
can be everywhere.
Friendships
are commonly
wrecked by
jealousy.
They are
backstabbing
us
to
other
people
because
of their
jealousy.
But if
youre a
real
friend to
them you will
not believe them
because you know
yourself that whatever they said are not
true. Never hate people who
are jealous of you, but you
should respect their jealousy.
They are people who think

that youre better than them.

True friends know how to
back-stab you to others but
they will never do it.
Well, none of us cant
escape jealousy all of us even
once we had been jealous to
someone or something. Were
humans, we get jealous, we
do mistakes and some of
these mistakes can lead to
misunderstanding. Misunderstanding is also one of
the reasons why friendships
are also wrecked. The problem is that we dont listen to
their explanations; we already concluded things even
though we dont know the
whole story.
Lifes biggest challenge is on how you will be
able to balance your happiness and maintain it with
your friends to help you and
guide you all the way to
success.
Friends are always
there to guide in your darkest path, to help you in your
darkest hours. They will
always stay by your side if
you want a shoulder to cry
on they will always be there
to make you smile, make
you happy. They will guide
you to the right path; example your friend is taking
drugs you and your friends
will lead him/her to the right
path or make him stop taking drugs.
I sit back and observe
every person in my life,
whether we talk everyday or
not. I know who motivates
me and keeps it 100. I also
know who talks about me
and smiles in my face. I
know who I can trust and
who I need to keep a distance
with. Whether I say anything or I let you be fake to
me, I know.
Treasure every moment
that you have with them.

of Lent brings us to the

peak of Easter or the fifty

resurrection of Jesus

and minds to spiritual
things will take us there.
Do not allow ourselves to

The 40 days of Lent and

50 days of Easter are considered as the most solemn

Christians. This is the time
for us to use the weapons

these seasons---PRAYER,

bring us with peace and
making us more like Him.

People are created,

among other creations,
with high intellectual capacity. We, people, are the
co-workers of God in the
paradise he created. Our
duties are to maintain its
beauty and to take care of
it.
Planting trees, saving
energy by switching off
appliances that are releasing CFC and avoid burning
plastics and rubbers are
some of the ways that we
can do to protect our
mother nature. If we hold
hands now for this common cause and if we open
our hearts to one another
and disregard those barriers
that keep us from being
who we truly are, then
maybe we could still hang
on to life

We started out as humble creatures who used to

live alongside Mother Nature and thrive along with
her. Before, we just had a
simple and peaceful life,
plucking fruits from trees,
roaming around and then

Environmentalists
around the world are
preaching the 3Rs, Reuse,
Reduce, Recycle. They are
asking people (if couldnt
actually stop) at least
lessen the use of plastics
and other products that
contribute to the destruction of the environment.
We listen; we act; and
promise to find solution

(butonly for
a
moment).
After a couple
of hours or
maximum of
2 days, were
back again in
our bad habits. We litter;
we pollute; and most of all,
we fail to remember our
duties to be personally responsible to the other creations of God, our creator. If
only theres some magical
force that could put chips
into our brains, so that, reminders will remain in our
mind and will control us in
doing our harmful activities
as much as possible.
Gaping hole in Antarctic, hole in the ozone layer
and issue of climate
change, these are just few
cases in our environment
that should serve as an eye
opener for all of us. If we
dont start today then,
when will we start? Do we
really have to wait for the
time that will be too late
for us to resolve the problem? Would you like the
worlds temperature to increase another few degrees
and make it stuffy and uncomfortable?

The month
of October marked the
celebration Holy Rosary.
Holy Trinity Lipa-Branch
commemorated this annual
Grand Rosary Rallywhich
was held on the 29th day of

the
said
month.
The Grand
Rosary
Rally
started
at seven
in the morning. Students
and teachers together with
parents participated in the
life sized rosary-like balloon formation, representing as a rosary for the entire school. As preparation

for the upcoming Advent

Season, Trinitarians demonstrated the Joyful Mystery. Representatives from
Pre-Elementary, grades 1
to 6 up to High school performed the story for each
mystery to preview Lord
Jesus Christ`s life also performed dance number in
each mystery to the chant
of the evangelical message
of the song. Christler Gemmuel Aclan, acted as the

Saviour, while Lefdey

Ramos, played the role of
Mary.
The goal of this event is
to remind Trinitarians to
keep the strong bond of our
Christian living with undeniable faith in God and
strong community to cherish his teachings as we face
difficulties. They released
balloons with the virtues
LOVE, FAITH, HOPE and
PEACE.

All things bright and

beautiful,
All creatures
great and small, All things
wise and wonderful, The
Lord God made them all.
Were all really blessed to
be part of this wonderful
world God has created. Its
very pleasing to look at; the
colorful flowers in the garden, the chirping birds in
the sky, the roaring beasts
in the wild, the swimming
creatures in the sea and
other wonderful sceneries
that bring us peace in our
hearts. Thats how God
originally created our
world.
Each little flower that
opens, Each little bird that sings,
He made their glowing colors,
He made their tiny wings.

hunting animals for food.

But, look around you.
What do you see now? The
pressing issues concerning
the destruction of Mother
Earth are too realtoo
hard to ignore, for modernization was catching on
man. We discovered the
wheel, used that to transport, we got fire, and
gradually we got civilized
and never stop discovering
more things to be discovered.
He gave us eyes to see
them, And lips that we might tell,
How great is God Almighty, Who
has made all things well.

Tomorrow,
the
world will be healed.
Tomorrow, the world
will be a better place.
For you and for me
and the entire human
race. Heal the world
and make it a better
place if you care
enough for living.

A child should be body

smart, people smart and
brain smart. This was
proven by the grade 3 student, Lei Alessa A. Bergonio who competed in
Division Meet at Community Park, Granja Lipa
City last November 2223, 2014. It was participated by both public and
private schools in the City
of Lipa.
Bergonio proved again
her aquatic abilities in the
swimming competition as
she received not only the

SILVER MEDAL but

also the Best Stroke
Award.
This victory qualified her
to move in Southern Tagalog Calabarzon Athletic
Association ( STCAA ).
Bergonio showed that
Trinitarians are not only
brain smart but also body
smart. Her achievements
show that age and height
have no bearing to dive in
success. It is just a matter
of perseverance and discipline of an athlete.

We didnt realize we were

making memories, all we
know is we were just having fun.
Last September 2-4 2014,
marks the special days as
Trinitarians have fun in
their SPORTS FEST
2014. Different activities
were lined up for the students to enjoy and the
first major activity, which
opens the celebration, was
the Fun Run 2014 that
was participated not only
by the teachers and students but also by the parents who enjoyed running
with their kids and meet
their co-parents.
Another major activity
that highlighted the event
was the Search for Mr.
and Ms. Intramurals
2014. Beautiful smiles,
captivating looks, and
modeling skills were

showed by each pair from

different levels to prove
that they were qualified
for the title. The passage,
Many are called, few are

the students who shined
through the contest and

of grade 9- Saint Victoria
is a GOLD MEDALIST
in the Division Meet 2014
(Taekwondo
Category)
held at De La Salle, Lipa
last November 14. This
competition aims to promote physical education
and sports and to instill
the spirit of discipline,
excellence, sportsmanship
and other values inherent
in sports. This was participated by 85 representatives from different
schools in the Division of
Lipaboth public and
private schools.
He was guided by his
coach
and
MAPEH
teacher, Sir Roy L. Vidal
for the two weeks of

training to condition his

body and mind for the
said competition. Aclan
fought a contender from
De La Salle with the score
of 11-1, in the first round,
in favor of him. His perseverance fired up as he
moved to the next round.
As the second round sparkles, Aclan again leads
the score (5-3) and ends
in the final score 16-4. A
task has been done as the
pride of Holy Trinity
School Lipa Branch is
now on cloud nine yet
preceded by humility.
