BOPPressureTestProcedure
GeneralPressureTestRequirement
AllBOPequipmentpressuretestsshouldbeconductedinaccordancewithfollowingguidelines:
1)TestfrequencyBOPequipmentshouldbepressuretestedasfollow:

Wheninstalled.
Beforedrillingouteachstringofcasing.
FollowingdisconnectionorrepairanywellborepressuresealintheWellhead/BOPstack(limitedtotheaffected
componentsonly).
Note:whenramsarechanged,thecasing/tubingrams(andannularpreventer)shouldbetestedtolesserorthehigh
pressuretestoronehalftherateworkingpressure.pressuretestedwithtestplugandcasing/tubingjointto80%ofpipe
burstratingofthecasingorratedworkingpressureofBOP(whicheverisless).
AllBOPtestmaximumofevery21days.
2)Allpressuretestsshouldbeperformedusingclearwater.
3)CheckandRecordthenitrogenprechargepressureofeachaccumulatorbottle.
4)KeeptherelevantwellheadsideoutletvalvesopenwhileusingtestplugforallBOPpressuretest.
5)TestPressure

ThelowpressuretestofeachpieceofBOPequipmentshouldbeconductedatapressureof200350psi.
Highpressuretestshouldbeconductedatratedworkingpressureoftheweakestcomponent.
Option1:pressuretestedwithtestplug.
Highpressureshouldbe70%ratedworkpressureofannularPreventerand100%ratedworkpressureoframspreventerand100%rated
workpressureofwellhead(whicheverisless).
Option2:pressuretestedwithcuptypetester
Highpressureshouldbe70%ratedworkpressureofannularPreventerand100%ratedworkpressureofwellheadand80%ofpipeburst
ratingofthecasing(whicheverisless).
6)Lowpressuretestshouldbeperformedfirst.Donottesttothehighpressureandbleeddowntothelowpressure.
7)Allthehighpressuretestsmustbeheldto7Mpafor5minutes,thenmaximumtestingpressurefor10minutes,theobservable
pressuredeclineshouldbeinallowedrange.Allpressuretesttoberecordedandchartedifavailable.
8)Chokemanifoldandkillmanifoldshouldbetestedseparatelysimultaneouslywithnormalrigoperationsifatestportisavailable.
9)Remotecontrolpanel(musthavetwooneonrigfloorandotherorgroundeasyaccessiblearea)shouldbeoperatedforallBOP
pressuretest.NoBOPopeningafterBOPtestshouldbedonebeforecheckingtheReleaseofthepressureandtheoperatingshouldbe
donebyauthorizedperson
10)Onlyauthorizedpersonnelshallgointestareatoinspectforleakswhenequipmentisunderpressure.
11)Allthepressuretestshouldbeconductedwithatestpump,rigpumpsorthecementunits(thecostofthecementunitwillbepaidby
therigasresultofnotestpumpprovidebytherig).

12)Alltestresultsshouldbedocumentedonapressurerecordwithfollowinginformation:

Functiontesting
Thefunctiontestshouldbecarriedoutoneachroundtripbutnotmorethanonceperday.Thetestshouldbeconductedwhiletripping
thedrillpipewiththebitinsidecasing.
BeforeapplyingpressuretestingtoPreventers,performthefollowing:
(1)EachRemotecontrolpanelshouldbeusedtooperatetheBOP&valves.
(2)Closeandopenallpreventers,Annularpreventermustneverbeclosedinanemptyhole.
(3)Blindramshouldbeoperatedforfunctiontestwhilestringisoutofhole.
(4)Piperamsmustbeclosedagainstcorrectsizeofpipeinthewell.
(5)Annularpreventersshouldnotbeoperatedoneachroundtrip.Theyshould,however,befunctiontestedonceaweek.
(6)Operationsofshearram,ifavailableinthestack,shouldbekepttobareminimum.
(7)ThevalvesonBOPstack,wellheadandchoke/killmanifold(excludingthehydraulicandadjustablechokeswhicharefunctiontested
oneachroundtrip)shouldbefunctiontestedatleastonceaweek.

CasingpressureTest:
AcasingtestisgenerallyconductedfortestingDVandfloatequipment,alongwiththescheduledBOPtest.
Toconductthepressuretest,performthefollowing:

Connectpressuresourcetothekilllineandopenkilllinevalve#1and#2.
Openallvalvesandchokesonmanifold,closevalveJ2a(seefigure2)
Closecasingheadvalves.
Closeblindrams(orpiperamsifpipeinthehole).
Pumpintothewellthroughkillline.Monitorandrecordthetestpressure.Forallthecasingstringsotherthandrive
pipeorstructuralcasingconductthetestto80%oftheminimuminternalyield(orburst)ofcasingorwellheadsor
BOPsratedworkingpressurelimits(whicheverisless).
Bleedoffpressureatchokeline.(closeJ1,openJ2a,thenopenJ1tobleedoff)

PressureTestingofInsideBOPs,KellyCocks,TDS,SwivelandRotaryHoses
Whilecarryingoutpressuretestingofaboveitemsalso,itisrecommendedthattestpressureshouldbeappliedfromthedirectionin
whichtheywouldexperiencepressureduringactualwellkicksituation.
1)PickupKelly/TDS.
2)MakeupFullOpeningSafetyValve(FOSV)onbottomoflowerKellycock.
3)MakeupInsideBOPonthebottomofFOSV.
4)MakeupadaptersubonbottomofinsideBOPandcompleteconnectionoftestlinefromcementingunitortestpumptoadaptersub.
5)Applytestpressurefirstupto200350psiandthenraisetoratedworkingpressureofinsideBOP.Holdpressure5minutes.
6)ReleasepressureanddisconnectadaptersubfrominsideBOP,disconnectinsideBOPandconnectadaptersubtoFOSVwithtest
lines.
7)CloseFOSVandapplytestpressureupto200350psi.Watchforanyleakage.Ifnoleakage,increasetestpressuretoratedworking
pressureofFOSVandholdpressurefor5minutes.Aftertestisoverreleasepressure.
8)TestlowerKellycock,upperKellycock,swivel/TDS,rotaryhoseandstandpipevalvesonebyone.Appliedtestpressureshouldnot
exceedratedworkingpressureoftheitembeingtestedortheworkingpressureoftheweakestmemberexposedtotestpressure,
whicheverisless.
Note:MakesurethatKelly/TDS,standpipeetc.arefullwithwater(testfluid)andairisnottrappedinit.

1.1HCR(Valve#4)andPiperamstest
Pickuptopdrive,connecttestplugonthebottomof51/2DP,runtestplugandseatinwellhead.
Connectpressuresourcetothekilllineandopenkilllinevalve#1and#2,valve#3,andkeepHCR(valve#4)close.
Closepiperams.
Pumpintothewellthroughkillline.Monitorandrecordthetestpressure.Conductlowpressuretestandhighpressure
testasabovetestrequirement.
Bleedoffpressureatchokeline(closeJ1,open#4,thenopenJ1tobleedoff).Openpiperams.
