2.0 TASK 1
1001 About Drug
In todays era of globalization, Malaysia continues to stride progressively in
realizing the Vision 2020. In achieving this, rapid advancement at various aspects
including economy, politics, education many others were still developing. This brings
many positive impacts towards our nation, especially in the field of technology.
However, while some of us are just too distracted of talking about the countrys
progress, we had forgotten to justify the bad implications of development and
urbanisation that keep rising and inflicting our nation, especially in the social aspect.
The important aspect of building a sustainable nation includes a consistent
development with a plan on lowering the social impact of the country caused by the
development itself.
Personal development also is one of the important aspects in forming a
developed country. This aspect is very crucial as personal development creates a
valuable human capitals that contribute as a backbone in running the country, both in
domestic and foreign affairs. Personal development importance can be translated into
analogy of a kite; without its helm, the kite would not be flying as we desire. This
corresponds to the social problems arising in Malaysia, specifically in the issue of drug
abuse in which the situation is very alarming. Regarding this issue, discussion and
prevention programs in many ways at the national level had been organised to further
eliminate this unhealthy habit. Besides, this article had been written to address the
causes, symptoms and effects of drug abuse with an objective to create awareness on
its peril.
The main reason that I came out with this article is responsible, youth
nowadays, prefer to explore new experience and strong peer influence also being a
factors to this problem. They were eager to feel the experience of drugs mostly had
been told by their colleagues, with the fantasies that joy and happiness will flew them
from any problems but at the end of it, they were cheated.
Besides that, those who took drugs just because the challenge that have been
made before with their friends ,fear to be called coward among others, this is an effect
of peer pressure by a bit of an impact on those who do not know what it was drugs.
They want to be so called a cool and matured by using drugs. Most of them were not
think about the consequences of drug. Many of them died young cause of drugs and
their excitement of trying new experience on drugs.

In addition, these are few symptoms of drug addict, as an early symptom those
who are using drugs looked changed in their attire, personality and their life. Besides
that, they also became low self-esteem, lack of motivation to behave, and became hot
tempered person. As an additional symptom they will also applied various agitations
among colleagues, and others. In simple words, they will change into someone who
does not care about personal hygiene.
Moreover, drug addict ,could have an energy to stay awake, strong and capable
to do many things in a certain times, and after drugs effect has gone, they could
shakes, tremors and slurred, they also sleep during the day and less taken food in a
long time. When this happens, some of them will turn into a regular routine of their
unhealthy lifestyles, they also lost attraction to perform activities that used to become a
hobby and their drug mates would facing the same syndrome. For those that already in
critical level, their eyes and nose could bleed.
Other than that, in this article also include harmful effect of drug if taken
regardless of age or gender. Drugs could give effects to their bodies and internal
organs such as the liver. Brain would be dysfunctional normally and drugs will put a
person in state of semi-conscious, lungs could be interrupted because drugs could
interferes the exchange of oxygen that would be channelled into blood, its also cause
throat and stomach damage. Within the scope of healthy, drug addict will be at risk
infected with hepatitis b or c and worse thing is being infected with HIV. In addition to
psychology, most of them will suffer mental disorder that makes them act abnormal.
Lastly, as a conclusion, the drug is a substance that giving a nightmare to your
life and affected from the outside to inside of the body. Too many disadvantages that
can be uttered against advantage. Drugs also lead to other matters including,
damaging family relationship between family members, relationships with colleagues
and so on. In other words, drugs are destroying lives. So let us together as Malaysians
join hands to prevent the spread of drug in order to move parallel to the social aspects
of progress to be achieved.

3.0 Forum Script

Moderator
Good morning ladies and gentlemen. I bid you all well. Thank you for allocating your
time on our forum at Seri Melati Hall, IPG Kampus Ipoh for today. Our theme for today
is Social Issues.
Social issues are also called as social problems or social illness or even a social
conflict. Social issue refers to an issue that influences and is opposed by a
considerable number of individuals within a society. This issue have been a part of
society for thousand of years.
First of all, I would like to introduce our panels for today. My name is Anne Margarette
Kho. I will be the moderator for today. On my right is Muhammad Azri bin Mahali, he
will be our first speaker, Nor Azira binti Sari, at my left side, she will be our second
speaker for today. Both speakers and I are from Q5 and will be sharing different types
of social issues that are mainly increasing in Malaysia.
Azri, what are the social issues that you may share with us?
Speaker 1
Today I will share some information on one of the social issues about drug abuse. I will
begin with the causes of drug abuse, the symptoms of a drug addict and lastly the
harmful effects of drug abuse. The drug abuse is rife in many countries including
Malaysia. Drug abuse and addiction cases have began in the year of 2000 until now
and it is a serious concern. According to the statistics, the data has recorded the
highest number of cases of drug abuse between the years 2000 to 2008. The total
cases of drug abuse are more than 40 000 cases in this state. This indicates that the
number is increasing year by year.

Azri, may you share with us why is the drug abuse increasing in Malaysia?
Speaker 1
The causes of drug abuse spreads because of curiosity, peer influences, anxiety,
depression, low self esteem and stress. Human are born with curiosity and information
about drug is everywhere. Drug addicts are not just among the youth but including the
adult. They were eager to feel the experience of drugs that had been told by their
colleagues or friends. Ostensibly, the fantasies on joy and happiness if taking drugs will

flew them from any problems but at the end of it, they were cheated. According to data
released by the Anti-drug Agency Malaysia, more than 12 000 cases in 2003 were
caused by the influence of friends.
Moderator
How can we know if the person is abusing drugs? What are the symptoms of drug
addict?
Speaker 1
There are few symptoms of drug addict, as an early symptom those who are abusing
drugs, have change their physical look such as in their attire, personality and their life.

second speaker, Nor Azira, may you share another social issue that is widely spread in
our country?

I will be talking on rape cases. Rape is any form of unwanted sexual behavior that is
imposed on someone. Our definition of rape is broader than most conventional or legal
definitions. Rape is one of the sexual violence categories. It can take many different
forms, including sexual harassment, verbal abuse, leering, threats and exposure, being
forced to watch pornography, unwanted touching, incest, penetration, mutilation and
ritual abuse. Rape is a serious crime. There are many types of rape. For today I will be
sharing the information of one of the type of rape cases which is statutory rape.
Statutory rape is also under the category of rape. Statutory rape is a sexual intercourse
by an adult with a person below age or statutorily designated age is mean to statutory
rape. The criminal offense of statutory rape is committed when an adult sexually
penetrates a person who, under the law, is capable of consenting to sex. Minors and
physically and mentally incapacitated person are deemed incapable of consenting to
sex under rape statutes in all states. These people are considered deserving of special
protection because they are especially vulnerable due to their youth or conditions.

As we all know that rape cases are a serious crime against religion and law. Azira, do
you know what are the rapists punishments according to our countrys law?
Speaker 2
Most legislatures include statutory rape provisions in statutes that punish a number of
different types of sexual assault. Statutory rape is different from other type of rape in
that force and lack of consent are not necessary for convicted. A defendant may be
convicted of statutory rape even if the complaint explicitly consented to the sexual
contact and no force was used by the actor. By contrast, other rape generally occurs
when a person overcomes another person by force and without the persons consent.
In Malaysia, sex with or without the consent of a girl below the age of 16 years old is
considered statutory rape. The punishment for rape is prescribed under Section 376 of
the Penal Code. Whoever commits rape shall be punished with imprisonment for a
term of not less than five years and not more than twenty years, and shall also be liable
to whipping. The statutory rapes were reported in 2005 until 2007 showed increasing of
this case.

Azira, what are the causes of statutory rape happens among our Malaysians?

Early education about sex may be the causes of statutory rape happen because
teenagers always fill with curiosity and comes out a lot of questions and they want to
know about those entire things. Teenagers also easy to influence by their friends their
friends more than at home with their family. Then, they were doing their decision
hurriedly.
How to avoid rape? Firstly dont blindly putting yourself into a situation where you are in
danger. Then you should not stay alone wherever you are. Dont jog in secluded areas.
Then, do no accept offer of lifts or present, from stranger who approach you on the
pretend of asking direction or help. Moreover, do not enter the elevator with one that is
you not know. Let the stranger goes into the lift and you should wait for the next
elevator. Next, if you go back home lately, make sure to inform your family to wait at the
bus stop. You also can ask your family member take you home from your works. The,
never agree to meet anyone that you did not know. Dont ever trust someone that you
know from internet because they may have not good intentions on you.

Thank you Azira on sharing the information on rape cases, rapists punishments
according to the law, the causes and how to avoid being rape or stuck in the situation.
I myself would like to share one of the social issues regarding on violent crime. There
are many form of violent crime. For today, I will be talking on murder cases that have
been appeared since thousand years ago.
Murder is the action of killing a person in a deliberate and unlawful way or to commit
the murder of someone. Besides rape cases, murder cases is the most notorious crime
that violates religious, social and cultural norms. In Malaysia, most of the murderers are
among the male. Based on one of the 2014 research, the profiles of Malaysian male
murderer are mostly among the single men with lower secondary of educational
background or semiskilled occupational status.
Speaker 1
Anne, is there only one type of killing method or is there different kind of killing methods
that is used by murderers to commit crime?

Moderator
There are two types of killing methods that are perform by the murderers, which are
single or multiple killing methods. Single killing method means only one type of killing
method used while multiple killing methods mean more than one type of killing method
used. Examples of multiple killing methods are combination of strangulation, stabbing,
or shooting. The types of killing method includes stabbing, shooting, strangulations,
physical force, slashing, smothering, cut-up, fire or some other multiple methods either
using weapons or without using weapons.

Anne, may we know what the weapons that are used by the murderer are?
Moderator
There are weapons that are widely used and preferred by the murderers. In Malaysia,
preferred weapons that use to perform murder are knives, parangs and blunt weapons.
Sharps objects, firearms, ligatures, own physical strength, and fire are the uncommon
weapons in this state. Often the weapons are from the offender, the crime scene, victim
and physical strength and murderer will target a certain body part to perform the crime.
The targets are multiple body parts, head, neck, chest, abdomen or stomach and face.
I would also like to talk on asphyxia deaths and physical abuse toward children.
Asphyxia death is death that is cause by three types of killing method which are
strangulation, drowning and hanging. In asphyxia, strangle action are done by using
ligature or manual strength commonly inflicted by using ligature way. Child abuse
violates the most basic rights of children and adolescents. It manifests itself in different
forms, including physical and psychological aggression, rape and sexual abuse and
takes place in the home and some other places. These abuses can lead to death.
Physical abuse toward children is repeated beating. Repeated beating has been done
for a long period of time either using force or household appliances such as belt strap,
iron, lighted cigarette and others common appliances. This action contribute bad
effects to the child such as bruises, severe blunt, trauma, fractures, ruptures of internal
organs, life threatening bleedings.

Anne, in your opinion what is the causes murder occurs?

Moderator
The causes are peer influences, revenge, poverty, to close sinful mistakes such as
rape, robbery and some other causes. These causes are the factor that leads to crime.
Individual in this poverty commit crime because they are desperate of basic needs
such as house, healthcare, education and employment. Often the murderer performs
killing action to close their sinful mistakes because he or she is scare of being known or
being jailed or punished by law.
Finally we have come to the end of our forum for today where we have shared a lot of
knowledge which we do not even know before. I would like to thank again to all ladies
and gentlemen for our forum today and also to our panels.

4.0 TASK 2
Critical Reflection
After finishing this assignment, there are many things that I can reflect back to
myself. In my opinion, this assignment is very good because it gives me an overall
knowledge about drugs, from the source to the effects or consequences that are
experience by drug addicts. Before, I have never bother to know about this matter, but
after completing this assignment, I eventually understand the cons as well as some
facts about drug problems.
While doing this assignment, I had gained a lot of knowledge about various
social issues, particularly on the rapid rise of drug problems among Malaysian. I know
about a variety of sources that can cause a person to get involve with this matter. The
most important thing is the need to control you from committing crimes and involving
yourself in that matter. I can also learn the signs or symptoms that can be shown upon
a person who is involve. The symptoms are varies and it can also affect the abusers
health.
Besides that, I have also learned many negative effects that occur when a
person takes drugs. It is also includes health effects, external relations and psychology.
This indicates that the drug would damage the entire body and so does your characters
as an employee or student. Overall drugs do not have much positive points that can
help people.
Other than that, I have to figure out the best way to address the problem in
order for it to not wander down to the school. As a teacher, I have to educate my
students so that they would not catch up in the drug problems.
While completing the assignment of the forum, I have been studying various
ways and format of the correct forum procedure that I can practice in the future. I also
get a lot of opportunity to speak eloquently during the last forum. Apart from that I also
learnt way to express my profound contents briefly and concisely. This forum also helps
to train myself to speak bravely in public rather than before.
Honestly, I would love to learn more knowledge in the field of writing especially
on how to be a good writer.

While doing the assignment, I was having a few problems mostly on the
resources that are needed to do this assignment. Maybe this problem accurse because
of my lack of skills, but I am still trying to find as much as information on the website
and also in the library so that this task can be completed before the due date. A short
term assignment that was given me as a new teacher trainees became an obstacles for
me to in complete this task.
In addition to addressing these issues, my classmates and I have collaborated
in searching for information in order to save time. It is also an advantage for us. Even
though we collaborated in completing the assignments but the descriptions and
explanations, we did it individually so that it can be differ from each of us.
We also lack of resources such as reference books and journals, and we have
taken the initiative to consult an online journal in order to facilitate our work and to save
time. I hope all our efforts will helps us to get a better result.
However, I have to go through all the challenges that exist while doing this
assignment because as a future teacher, there are more obstacles and challenges they
i have to confront while doing my work to make sure everything could be solved
properly.
Besides that, I also have learned a new knowledge on how to build information
graphically, which was suggested by my classmates. It is very good software and it is
free. I hope with these skills I can do graphic organisers easier to be understood and
easily viewed by others. As a student, making notes with graphics is an important way
to make things easy to understand the lesson
