The fuel efficiency of the new airliners
was a very important design goal for the
Boeing Commercial Airplane Company
of Seattle, Washington. On a 500-mile
flight, a 757 will burn about 47 percent
less fuel per seat than the 727-1 00, one
of the aircraft the 757 was designed to
replace. For the 767, fuel burned per
seat is 35 percent less than for the earlier medium-range jetliners that it will be
replacing.

Leading edge slat actuation on the 757

is provided by one Vickers 3000 psi
(207 bar) constant-displacement, ninepiston, bent-axis hydraulic motor. The
motor produces 544.3 in. lbs. torque at
2250 psid with a rated speed of 3170
rpm and an intermittent speed of 4755
rpm. Displacement is 1.52 cu. inirev
(24.90 ml/rev). Motor weight is 13.21
lbs (5.99 kg).

Stabilizer trim actuation on the 757 is

provided by two Vickers 3000 psi (207
bars), constant-displacement, nine-piston, bent-axis hydraulic motors. Each
motor produces 77.3 in. ibs. torque at
2250 psid with a rated speed of 2700
rpm and an intermittent speed of 4050
rpm. Displacement is 0.216 cu. in./rev
(3.54 ml/rev). Motor weight is 3.9 lbs
(1.77 kg).

Trailing edge flap actuation on the 757 is

provided by one Vickers 3000 psi (207
bars), constant-displacement, nine-piston, bent-axis hydraulic motor. The motor produces 214 in. lbs. torque at 2250
paid with a rated speed of 3750 rpm and
an intermittent speed of 5660 rpm. Displacement is 0.598 cu. in/rev (9.79 ml/
rev). Motor weight is 6.5 lbs (2.95 kg).

CMV3-049-EA2
Constant Speed Motor/
Generator (CSM/G)
The CSM/G is a servo controlled, variable displacement, inline axial piston hydraulic motor integrated with a three
stage, brushless generator. The CSM/G
is designed to maintain a steady state
generator output frequency of 400 +/- 5_
hertz and an average steady AC phase
voltage of 115 +/- 2 volts (atthe point of regulation) over a rated electrical output _ range of 10 kVA. _

PV3-240 Series
Engine-Driven Pump

MPEV3-056-6
Electric Motor-Driven Pump

Hydraulic power for the left and right

systems is supplied by two 37.5 gpm
(141.95 Umin), 3880 rpm, variable dis-

Primary system power is also supplied

by four fluid-cooled, AC electric motordriven, 3000 psi (207 bar), variable-die-

placement, 3000 psi (207 bar), pressure-compensated inline piston pumps.

The PV3-240-2G is identical to the -2F
except the electric depressurization
valve (EDV) and the compensator are
drained to the inlet instead of the case.
Both are equipped with an inlet boost
impeller and an outlet blocking valve
with internal check. Displacement is
2.40 cu. in./rev.(39.31 ml/rev). Pump
weight is 29.5 lbs (13.38 kg).

placement, pressure-compensated inline piston pumps. The motorpump converts aircraft electrical power to rotary

shaft motion to drive the boost pump,

cooling flow pump and the inline piston
pump. The unit produces 12 gpm flow

at 5750 rpm. Displacement is 0.48 cu.

in./rev (7.86 ml/rev). Motorpump
weight is 49 lbs (22.23 kg).

MPHF3-1 60-8
Power Transfer Unit (757)
The transfer of hydraulic power (but not
fluid) between the left and right independent hydraulic systems is accomplished with a non-reversible power
transfer unit which provides an alternate power source for the leading and
trailing edge flaps and the landing gear,
including nose gear steering, which are
normally driven by the left hydraulic .

system. The unit consists of a bentaxis hydraulic motor driving a fixeddisplacement, in line pump. Rated
speed is 3900 rpm. Displacement of
the pump is 1.39 cu. in./rev (22.77),
and displacement of the motor is 1.52
cu. in./rev (24.90 ml/rev). The power
transfer unit weight is 35 lbs (15.88 kg)
