Item
Sovamax uses the term item to specify the consumables. For example: if we have one ink cartridge, it
will be one item.
Or one drum also is one item.
Part Number
A part number (often abbreviated PN, part no., part # or p#) is an identifier (code) of a particular item.
Each p# is unique for the specific brand.
Different Brands have different p# formats. Rarely there may be same p# for 2 different brands. For
example we have TK-18 for Kyocera Mita Toner, and also we have TK-18 for Toshiba toner. Here are 2
different toners that fits different machines, that don't have anything in common. Here is a simple
coincidence.
One item may have more than one p#.
For example Konica Minolta DV-310 Developer. Here may be considered DV-310 as p#, but this
item has another p# as well 8938-451.
DV-310 is p# that specify that the item is Developer, and it fits specific machines. It may be called as
General p#. But the second one is unique p#. Konica Minolta produce an item during 2-3-5 years. In
this period, producer may change the box or something else. The item will be same DV-310, but new
one will have another p#, for example 8938-452.
There can't be an item without p#, this one is mandatory for each item.
Cartridge number
In our business, Producers, besides part number have Cartridge numbers (Ctg#) as well. There are
about 15% of items that have Ctg#s.
Color printing machines use different cartridges. It may be one Black cartridge and one tri-color

cartridge (Especially for HP inkjet printers), but there may be one black cartridge and 3 different
cartridges for each color: Cyan, Magenta and Yellow. These 3 cartridges are same psihicaly, the only
difference is color of the ink inside them and the chip. Often, such kind of cartridge have a common
cartridge number.
For example Brother has LC-51 inks. There are a lot of different inks:
LC-51BK Brother LC-51 Ink Black
LC-51C Brother LC-51 Ink Cyan
LC-51M Brother LC-51 Ink Magenta
LC-51Y Brother LC-51 Ink Yellow
LC-51HYBK Brother LC-51 Ink Black High Yield
LC-51C5PK Brother LC-51 Ink Cyan 5 pk
All of these items are different because of the color, yield, pieces in the box, but there is a thing in
common Cartridge number LC-51.
Ctg# is not mandatory for each item.
Model
Sovamax uses the term model to specify the machines (printers, dublicators, faxes, Multifunction
Printing Machines). Even if we don't deal with models, we need to know information about them
because ..............
