FATHERS DAY - June 21

Join us Sunday, June 21 during both the
8:45 am Contemporary Worship Service and the
10:55 am Traditional Worship Service
as we honor our Fathers.

HAPPY FATHERS DAY!

A Note From The Pastor

Every time you cross my mind, I break out in exclamations of thanks to God. Each
exclamation is a trigger to prayer. I find myself praying for you with a glad heart. I
am so pleased that you have continued on in this with us, believing and proclaiming God's Message, from the day you heard it right up to the present. There has
never been the slightest doubt in my mind that the God who started this great
work in you would keep at it and bring it to a flourishing finish on the very day
Christ Jesus appears.

Philippians 1:3-6 (The Message)

What an amazing year this has been! Whenever I think about all that we as a
family and a church have been through, like Paul to the Philippians, I find myself praying with a glad heart. In May we had a wonderful group of Confirmands join the church, we honored our graduating High School Seniors and
Trent was Commissioned at Annual Conference. I am grateful to all of you who
have made our first year in Nacogdoches such a good experience.
I am also grateful for the ministry of this church. The scripture goes on to say
how we trust in the God who has started a great work in you. That means were
not finished, we still have work to do in our church, our community and in the
world keep up the good work!
There are lots of great things happening in June, see you in Church.
Peace,

A Note From The Associate Pastor

It's the end of May which means that it is time for the Texas Annual Conference to meet once more. This meeting is the
yearly gathering in which Methodist ministers and lay persons from all of East Texas gather together to make decisions
about our Conference as a whole. At the Conference, new ministers are certified, licensed, commissioned, and ordained;
we elect delegates and officers; we modify our policies and practices; and most importantly, we fellowship and worship together. We take communion and pray over our leaders. Each night all who are gathered come together to sing, pray,
dance, and proclaim God's word. At the core of it all, we declare that we are one church and one body. Even though we
disagree and bicker over MANY things, we are here to worship the God who made us all. Our connection is real!
I would challenge you this month (if you havent already) to take this connection seriously. Begin to pray for the Texas
Conference and all of its various ministries and organizations. You can visit www.txcumc.org to find things to pray for (there
are too many to list here).
Over the next few weeks, there will be many decisions made that will affect the future of our church and every other
church within our connection. Pray that God does a work in us and that we are lead by the Spirit in all that we do.
Blessings,

CONGRATULATIONS REV. TRENT OLIVER

At the Texas Annual Conference, Rev. Trent Oliver will be commissioned a Provisional Elder for Ordained Ministry in the worship service on Tuesday, May 26th. All of the worship services during Annual Conference are inspirational, and all Methodists are welcomed to
attend any and all of the worship services and general sessions of the Conference. For more information, visit www.txcumc.org.

MISSION NEWS
MISSION NAC - June 10-13
Mission NAC is a multi-church outreach ministry that seeks to help the needy in our community. They have scraped
and painted, roofed, built porches and carports, replaced windows and trim, delivered furniture, mowed, gardened and
landscaped for those who simply needed a hand-up. Last year alone over 250 people representing 5 churches joined
together to work for four days in our community. Lives were changed as the love of Christ was spoken and demonstrated
and so were over 12 homes!
This year, we hope that you will take part in this wonderful event. It is a great opportunity for families and people of all
ages to learn service and have fun while doing it. Registration closes at the end of May. The cost is $25 per participant
(capping at $100 per family) to cover the cost of materials. Go to www.missionnac.com to learn more and get involved.
I can Sunday, June 7th and July 5th for Friday Take-Home Bags
Our church will partner with Love INC to help with the NISD Summer Meal Program, because hunger doesnt take a
summer break. The program is funded by the Texas and U.S. Departments of Agriculture and feeds children ages 1 to
18, with no stipulations on who eats free summer meals. Approximately 1,400 students will receive balanced breakfast
and lunch meals Monday through Friday. The program runs from Mon, June 15 th through Fri, August 7th. Churches are
asked to help by providing activities for the children gathered at the various sites. On Fridays, churches fill a paper bag
of food to send home with each child for the weekend. We will be supplying 75 bags for children in Pioneer Park on
these three Fridays of July 24, July 31, and August 7.
We are asking for your help during June and July in supplying food items, or monetary contributions, for these
bags. Checks for monetary contributions can be made out to FUMC with memo: summer meals.
Suggested items: individual or small serving sizes of non-perishable foods (we will put 10-12 in each bag)
Fruit cups, Easy Mac n Cheese pasta, Pop-tarts, Breakfast or ganola bars, Single-serve pasta and meats,
small cereal boxes, cheese and crackers, vienna sausage, dried fruits, peanut butter and crackers, nuts, any healthy
snacks or foods.
UMW Circle VI needs your plastic bags by Sun, June 7th
Circle VI Sisters are assisting another church by collecting plastic bags and preparing them to be sent to Haiti. They are
folded and assembled in bundles to use in teaching the women there how to use scissors and to crochet the bags into
mattresses. With that skill, the women can expand to crocheting clothing, bags, etc. Please bring your plastic bags of
any size (Kroger, Walmart, Belks, etc.) on June 7th for their project that week. Thank you for your support.
