User Interface
New Graphical Reference Tool makes it easy to determine feature dependencies in parts and assemblies and helps to understand
the possible effects of any design changes
Selection Sets enable the capture of important information, reducing repetitive selection operations during modelling, assembly

New Configuration Switcher makes it easier to quickly switch between configurations

Sketch
Now dimension tool supports Symmetrical Angle dimensions
New Segment tool provides an easy way to dividing sketch entities into equal parts and automatically add relations to each of the
segments
The Select Chain tool is now available when working with construction geometry just like any other sketch entities
Adding sketch relation between two adjacent entities is much easier now; just select a common vertex and select relation from
pop-up window

Parts
Surface body can be split into multiple surface bodies, in addition to the existing functionality of splitting solid bodies
There are more ways to utilize open profiles for features and cuts. The depth of cut extrudes or the angle of revolved cuts can be
controlled by using open contour selections
New option now available in linear pattern feature that is similar to the equal spacing option in the circular pattern and allows for
creation of intelligent patterns
Asymmetric Fillet option can be used to specify different radius on each face. This gives more design flexibility to achieve the
desired aesthetics for the produce

Sheet Metal
Lofted bends can be created between Non-Parallel sections. Accurate bend information can now be created and model can be
flattened for fabrication.
SolidWorks 2015 displays both the profile outline and the centre point of the sheet metal gussets in the flattened state.
Hole Wizard now supports PEM standards for sizing the holes corresponding to the fasteners
It is now possible to transfer the sheet metal and flat pattern information from the original part to the mirrored version of sheet
metal part

Weldment

Corner treatment dialog has been redesigned to make it easier to define the order in which members get trimmed
Gussets are now supported between structural members that contains gaps for manufacturing purpose
Single body welds are now supported, which is important on sheet metal parts to close corners
There is a new option available to keep the cut list up to date automatically

Assemblies
Exploded views in SolidWorks 2015 are simpler and quicker to create with the improved Intelligent Auto Explode tool.
Now Interferences are sorted from large to small and there are also controls to ignore interferences that are smaller than a
selected value if this is not important.
New Chain Component Pattern is a unique and powerful type of Component Pattern for setting up patterned components along
an open or closed path to dynamically simulate a chain drive or cable carrier
The Export to AEC feature now quickly creates simplified model that is properly rotated and scaled and allows for easy import into
other AEC software.

Drawings
When adding an angle dimension it's no longer necessary to create construction geometry. A manipulator is presented and you
can select one of the legs to aid in creation of the dimension
Drawing zones are now available in SolidWorks 2015. These zones can referenced in notes, balloons, view labels and in the
revision table. If a revision symbol is moved to a different zone, the revision table updates automatically
New decimal rounding option helps users to have more control over the way that number are rounded off.
SolidWorks 2015 introduces a new option to control whether a layer will or will not print. It helps to hide sensitive information on
a drawing while printing.

eDrawings now supports named views from SolidWorks files

SolidWorks Costing 2015 now supports Weldments for a more comprehensive support of manufacturing methods. Weldments
costs are calculated based on either a stock length or per unit length method, giving an accurate manufacturing cost and also
providing insight into potential wastage.
SolidWorks Costing 2015 supports die casting. Metal casting costs can now be accounted for including the cast time, mold cost and
scrap material.
SolidWorks Costing 2015 now also supports 3D Printing as a manufacturing method
SolidWorks Costing 2015 also supports Plastic Injection Molding. Similar to the metal casting, it can account for aspects such as
injection time, mold cost, runner systems and waste material.

SolidWorks Premium
SolidWorks 2015 introduces a new capability to flatten non-developable surfaces, enabling a more streamlined manufacturing
process for products such as footwear, apparel and even hull design in shipbuilding
Simulation now offers the ability to easily review and modify shell properties in a convenient tabular interface
Automated bonding of shells with gaps is now available in Simulation
Anew feature to aid in building infrastructure design is support for rectangular ducting

SolidWorks Simulation
SolidWorks Simulation 2015 provides a tabular input to manage load cases and even combine load cases using formulas to account
for compound test requirements.

SolidWorks Plastics 2015 supports a new hexagonal mesh called the Non-Orthogonal Voxel Mesh
A new capability is being able to view wall thickness of part relative to nominal value
A new results category allows you to view venting pressure over the part.

SolidWorks Electrical
The new Rights Management tools offer organizations the flexibility to deliver different levels of command control that limits
application data access for design teams of varying sizes
New Dynamic Connector tool greatly simplifies the creation of electrical connectors.
Adding different line widths for schematic diagrams based on wire types is now supported
New In-Line 3D Diagnostics tools help idetify and resolve 3D routing discontinuities

SolidWorks Composer now provides added suport for Spatial R23, providing added import compativility with content created in
CREO 2.0
Adding labels and polylines in SolidWorks Composer now has new capabilities to add arrow extremities, offering added flexibility
when creating technical communications

SolidWorks Enterprise PDM

Now it is possible to add a custom column in Windows Explorer to show the Version number of each files combined with the new
style quick info icons
New feature enables users with permission to see which files have been created by others before they have been checked-in
The Copy Tree dialog box has had a complete user interface overhaul. This makes it much easier to use and a lot more powerful for
copying entire product structures
It is now possible to add comments to transitions in a workflow. Comments can use variables to add more information.

SolidWorks Inspection
SolidWorks Inspection 2015 supports for creating Project Templates and simplifies the use of creating inspection documents for
multiple vendors and suppliers
New functionality has been added in SolidWorks Inspection Standalone application that supports Encrypted PDFs.
SolidWorks Inspection Standalone application now offers users added support for PDFs with "searchable text" enabled when
created from products such as core SolidWorks.
The Project - Options dialog now notifies users when a drawing is scaled incorrectly. This new functionality helps remove
irregularities that arise when information is scanned.

SolidWorks Model Based Definition (MBD)

SolidWorks MBD helps companies reduce cycle time and improve quality by reducing their reliance on 2D Drawings
SolidWorks MBD defines 3D PMI such as dimensions, datum, geometric tolerances, surface finishes, BOM, tables, notes and other
annotations within the SolidWorks 3D environment
