Final Placements Instruction Sheet

General Instructions:
Proof for all new information (keeping summer placements resume as the starting point)
needs to be provided during verification process
Be conservative in mentioning information such as relatively low ranks
Please note that CAT percentile/score should not be mentioned on the resume
Follow reverse chronological order of events in each section as far as possible
1. EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
RANK IN IIM INDORE
Everyone is allowed to write the rank/percentile. However, rank or percentile till the end of
both 3rd and 4th term MUST be written.
e.g.: Rank 15 (Term IV) / Rank 12 (Term III)
e.g.: Top 5% (Term IV) / Top 8% (Term III)
ELECTIVES
Mentioning the electives is optional.
RANKS / PERCENTAGES/ YEARS
You MUST mention the batch size for Graduation, Class XII & Class X when including ranks or
percentile. If your board provides both percentage and CGPA, you can choose to write either
one provided there is a conversion sheet as proof. Mention the year of graduation in the
year column (say 2014 as per IIM Indore graduation year)

BOARDS/SCHOOL INFORMATION

For state boards, mention only the name of the state (say Maharashtra instead of
Maharashtra State Board). The abbreviations for Class XII boards are CBSE, ISC and for class X
are CBSE, ICSE respectively. You can mention the name of the city (after the school name) if
necessary.
2. ACADEMIC & CO-CURRICULAR ACHIEVEMENTS
You can mention prime achievements related to academics or co-curricular activities (i.e.
competitions related to management education like case competitions, business simulation,
b-school management competitions, workshops)
It is recommended that you mention only your most significant co-curricular achievements
in this area and mention others in the EXTRA CURRICULAR ACHIEVEMENTS section.

Significant certifications (CFA, FRM) attained can be mentioned in this section. Participants
who have applied (for June 14 exams) can mention as CFA Level 1 candidate, CFA Level 2
candidate. This rule is limited to only CFA applicants.
Students who have secured marks in top 5% of the subject can choose to mention it (i.e. out
of entire batch of 450 for 1st year courses/out of all students enrolled for an elective in 2nd
year courses). Mentioning anything above 5% is not advisable. You need to disclose your
standing in the entire enrolment for the course/elective.
e.g.: Among top 4% in Macroeconomics in the batch of 450
e.g.: Among top 5% in Consumer Behavior in a class of 150 (not 75 only)
Ranks of reputed entrance exams like IIT JEE, AIEEE, state entrance exams may be
mentioned provided information about total applicants is also mentioned. For AIEEE ONLY
national ranks can be mentioned.
e.g.: Secured an AIR 450 in IIT JEE 2005 among 2.5 lakh applicants
e.g.: Among top 1% in IIT JEE 2005 among 2.5 lakh participants
3. PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
There are two formats shown for writing the Work experience
Participants who prefer mentioning individual projects separately to follow the first
format
Participants who prefer consolidating all information on work ex to follow the second
format. Responsibilities and achievements can also be broken down into separate rows
4. PROJECTS and PAPERS

Mentioning the type of project is mandatory, i.e. Live Project or Academic Project
Industrial Visit Project cannot be mentioned
Mentioning the name of the company for the live project is not mandatory

5. POSITIONS OF RESPONSIBILITY
abcd can be used to describe the club/ festival
For example:
Member, Harmon-I, Music Club of IIM Indore
Member, Operations Team - Mridang, Cultural Festival of IIM Indore
All interest club PORs must have (Interest Club) mentioned in the POR line.
For IIM Indore PORs held during the first year, you MUST mention as:
Junior Member, XYZ Committee/Club.

6. EXTRA CURRICULAR ACHIEVEMENTS

This section can include achievements in sports, music, arts, etc. Any spill over from cocurricular achievements can also be mentioned here.
7. OTHER INTEREST & ACTIVITIES
No proof is required for items listed in this section
