Reflections of a Blessed Life

Charles Otis Chambers Sr. was born October 5, 1957 in Detroit,
Michigan to Willie Mae Chambers and the late Nettles
Chapman.
Charles grew up in Highland Park, Michigan. He graduated from
Highland Park High School, where he was an excellent student.
Charles played football, basketball and ran track. After
graduating from high school, he joined the U.S. Army, where he
served from 1974-1977 with the illustrious 101st Airborne
Division - Screaming Eagles. After military service Charles
worked as a mental health worker for the Veterans
Administration in Detroit, MI and St Louis, MO. He also worked
in the mental health field for the states of Georgia and Ohio. His
last position was as a Therapeutic Program Worker at the
Summit Behavioral Healthcare Center in Cincinnati, OH.
Charles loved Detroit, especially Detroit sports teams. He was a
devoted fan of the Tigers, Lions and Pistons win or lose.
Charles met and married Kathryn Wright, the love of his life.
When they moved to the Cincinnati area, they united with New
Prospect Baptist Church and became devoted members. Charles
loved God and loved his church.
He leaves to mourn his loving wife, Kathryn Chambers;
daughter, Dion Talley of Southfield, MI; son, Charles Chambers
Jr. of Baltimore, MD; mother, Mrs Willie Mae Carter of Denver,
CO; sisters, Rose Chambers (Oscar) of Los Angeles, CA; Betty
Chambers of Tucson, AZ; Susan Lowe of Denver, CO; two
grandchildren. He is also survived by sisters-in-law, Mellinee
Thompson (Harry), Glenda White (James), Susan Williams;
brother-in-law, James Wright (Brenda); and a host nieces,
nephews, cousins and friends. Deceased are Grandmother, Alice
Mitchell and brother, Steve Chambers.
Charles had an extended family who loved him very much
sisters: Rosa Chism (Chuck) of Maylene, AL; Annie Humphries,
Cynthia Carlisle (Clarence), Jessica Gilmore, of Montevallo, AL;
Elaine Chapman-Epps (Sam) of Troy, MI; Kathy Niang (Ibraham)

of San Antonio, TX; Charlisa Smith of Westland, MI; brothers:

Wayne Chapman (Gwen) of Calera, AL; Presley Gilmore, Keith
Gilmore of Montevallo, AL. Charles was much loved and will be

greatly missed.
