1. INTRODUCE ABOUT YOURSELF

Its interesting to tell you about myself. I am a student in grade twelve. I am studying at a High
School in the mountainous area in the Northern part of Vietnam.
Every morning from Monday to Saturday, I get up at 6 o'clock. After breakfast, I go to school
by bicycle. It takes me about 20 minutes to go from my house to my school. I feel so happy because,
for me, going to school brings to me lots of fun and knowledge. I can not only learn many useful
things but also meet a lot of my friends who often share with me happiness and troubles in our life.
Usually, I study at school until 11:30 a.m. I return home at noon to have lunch with my family. In the
afternoon I attend English and computer courses. I always get home just in time for dinner at 7:30 p.m.
After dinner, while my parents are watching television in the living-room, I read books or prepare for
school in my own room.
I am free at weekends. On Sunday mornings, I get up later than usual. Then I often go shopping
downtown with my friends. Sometimes we go for a picnic in the countryside. On rainy Sundays, I stay
at home reading books and listening to music. Almost everybody has some kinds of hobby. My
hobbies are listening to music and watching television. I am very fond of music. When I am free, I
often listen to my favourite songs from an old cassette recorder. At weekends, I usually go to music
shops in the downtown areas to buy good CD's. Of the famous pop singers, I prefer My Tam, Quang
Dung, Tuan Hung and Ngoc Tan.
I am living with my parents. My family consists of 4 people. They are my mother, my father,
my bother and me. My father is soldier working for Vietnamese Peoples Army. My brother is a
school-boy. My mother is a primary school teacher, and I am a high school student.
2. YOUR FAVOURITE SUBJECT: MN HC YU THCH CA BN
Im a student. I am studying at a High School in the mountainous area in the Northern part of
Vietnam. I have to learn many subjects but the one I like most is English! I like it because of many
reasons.
First of all, English is the most spoken language in the world. One out of five people speak
English, so if I can speak English fluently, I can communicate with many new people from around the
world. Second of all, I can get more knowledge when I learn English because it is the language of
science, of aviation, computers, diplomacy, and tourism. Third of all, I may get a better job if I know
English. Knowing English will make me bilingual and more employable in every country in the world.
Besides, I can enjoy English art in its original form.
I can watch movies, read books and listen to music in its original and untranslated form, which is in
most cases more authentic. And songs tend to be better when I can truly understand them.
These reasons above make me love learning English so much. I practise it every day. I think, I
will learn it all my life.
3. Your hobby
Almost everybody has some kind of hobby. My hobbies are listening to music and watching
television.
I am very fond of music. When I am free, I often listen to my favourite songs from an old
cassette recorder. At weekends, I usually go to music shops in the downtown areas to buy good CD's.
Of the famous pop singers, I prefer My Tam, Quang Dung, Tuan Hung and Ngoc Tan. I also spend an
hour after dinner watching news and documentary programmes. I particularly enjoy the programme
"The World Here And There" because it broadens my knowledge of nature and human civilizations.
I think that my hobbies are very useful. They widen my knowledge, relax my mind, and make
me feel better about myself.

4. ARE PARENTS THE BEST TEACHERS

I do strongly agree the idea that parents are the best teachers. This I agree for following
reasons.
The first teachers we have in our lives in most cases are our parents. They teach us to walk,
to speak, and to have good manners before we reach he real world. ? More than even the
professional teachers that we have in school, parents are generally the most involved in the
development and education of children.
Almost for sure our parents are the best teachers at the beginning of our lives, which actually
corresponds to the parents role in nature. Parents are most committed and involved in teaching their
children; they have a kind of instinct to sacrifice a part of themselves for the betterment of their
children. They love us and have great patience while passing down their knowledge to us. They wish
us a success and thus will not teach us bad things. And of course, implicit learning occurs when
children unconsciously copy some of their parents habits and styles of behavior. During the second
stage of child development, adolescence, parents can still be in the best position to offer advice even
though the children might not accept it. In this case, perhaps the childs friends would be the best
teachers. Adolescents are notoriously rebellious in many cultures and may automatically reject some
advice from their parents. My first marriage for instance, was solely a matter of doing the opposite
when my parents tried to intrude in offering advice. So in such matters, parents should be much
more flexible and be rather the partners with their children.
So we can see that being a teacher of growing child becomes more and more complicated
case as the time passes and many parents are simply not able to meet the increased demands.
5. Your leisure activities
What do I often do in my spare time? Well, that's I always do some little things. I often wake up
early in the morning, sometimes late but not too late. After doing housework such as cleaning the
floor, washing clothes and cleaning the furniture, I take a shower. That feels great and fresh. Then I
will make a cup of coffee or a glass of hot milk, warming bread or make some several different kind of
drink I am interested. Finish preparing I enjoy my breakfast with coffee, bread with jam. That is my
typical meal in the morning. During the meal I often listen to music, watch television or read
newspaper. It often takes 3 hours. Next I will go to the market to cook lunch. In the afternoon, in a
nice day, I will go shopping or come to visit my friend. Next, I will go swimming or go to fitness
center. I will come back home at 7 p.m, making a suffer meal and learning or doing assignments, the
rest time I will watching television or surfing internet to chat with friends. That's all about the thing I
like to do in my spare time.
6. My Daily Activities
I am a high school student.
Every morning from Monday to Saturday, I get up at 6 o'clock. After breakfast, I go to school by
bicycle. It takes me about 20 minutes to go from my house to my school. Usually, I study at school
until 11:30 a.m. I return home at noon to have lunch with my family. In the afternoon I attend English

downtown with my friends. Sometimes we go for a picnic in the countryside. On rainy Sundays, I stay
at home reading books and listening to music.
I am quite happy with my daily activities.
7. MY BEST FRIEND
Linh has been my best friend since we were in grade 8. She is an attractive girl with short hair
and a cheerful face with dimples on both cheeks. We have share our common interest, playing
badminton and gotten along well with a group of top five through the previous years. At the beginning
of this year, our group joined a relief activity in a southern province. Linh was our leader, and her

decisions during the trip proved that our selection was right. She is a smart and decisive leader in
tasks. At the same time, she is also a very helpful and cooperative person when she works with you.
Whenever you have a problem, you can talk to her to seek her advice. I have been her client for
years.
I must say, so far, Linh has been my best friend. I love and respect her for her helpfulness,
kindness, and cooperation.
8. Your favourite season
There is nothing to beat the beauty of a winter evening in a tropical country. The sky acquires a
blazing hue just before the sun sets and all of a sudden the day is plunged into darkness reminding one
of the passage of time, of the interaction between life and death, of the joy and sorrow of meeting and
parting.
Winter indeed is the best part of the year; it is welcome in its short-lived glory. Have you ever
realized the coziness which winter brings? It lies in the colors around us both in the world of nature
and the human world. People were bright colors, red and green and dark blue. These colors radiate
warmth of their own. Flowers blossom in huge clusters bringing the countryside alive with their
vitality. Spring lives on the fringe of winter in the tropics. They start appearing in November and
normally the flower shows are held in late January or early February. Dahlias, lilies, chrysanthemums,
hollyhocks, poppies - the list is endless.
Thus winter is for one not only a time of colour but also a time of fragrance.
9. Your favourite way to relax
Watching television is one of the activities I like to do it in my spare time. I enjoy watching
cartoons on Saturday mornings and sports programs on Sunday afternoons. I also watch television
during the week after I have finished all my school work. At night, I especially like to watch movies
and situation comedies. If I have a lot of homework, I try to arrange my schedule so that I can watch at
least one of my favorite shows. Watching television is not the only activity that I do in my spare time.
My other favorite activities are making paper flowers and going shopping with my friends. However,
when I have spare time, I spend more time watching television than any other activities. Watching
television can help me not only relax but also build me a huge knowledge of the open world.
10. Your favourite sport
I like swimming. It is my favorite sport, for I know that it is healthy as well as a good chance
for a person to exercise his or her body.
Last Sunday morning, as the weather was fine, I went to Vung Tau with my family. It took us
about two hours by car to arrive at our destination, and I felt very excited about it. When our car
reached the top of the cliff overlooking the Bay, I admired the golden sand of the long beach, the blue
sky and water, and the splendid country surroundings which looked like an artists painting. We put on
our bathing-suits and ran into the water. It was a very happy swim for me. We played ball, challenged
each other in swimming a certain distance. Of course, I was always beaten by my bigger brothers but I
was satisfied with my good effort. When we felt tired, we lay down on the beach to rest and to have
some sunbath. At about noon, we returned to our tent and had lunch. About 3 p.m. we went once more
into the water and swam till 5 p.m. Finally, we got ready to start for home. Everyone was delighted to
have spent such a wonderful swim.
I really enjoyed swimming very much that day.
11. My Family
I am living with my parents. My family consists of 4 people. They are my mother, my father,
my brother and me. My father is soldier working for Vietnamese Peoples Army. My brother is a
school-boy. My mother is a primary school teacher, and I am a high school student. We get up at 6
o'clock every morning. After breakfast, my father and my mother go to work. My brother and I go to
school. We have lunch at noon and dinner at 7 p.m. In the evening after dinner, we sit together in the

living-room talking or watching television for, about an hour. Then my brother and I go to our own
rooms to prepare the lessons for the coming week.
My family is a very happy one. We love each other very much and expect to live together under
the same roof forever.
