This course aims to enhance the students grammatical knowledge and linguistic skills at the basic level. It encourages students to handle simple conversations in daily life, to identify the main points of a discussion or TV news and to express their opinions and emotions both in writing and speaking. In addition, it focuses on consolidating students reading and comprehension skills with basic written materials such as maps, directions, letters, notes, etc. PREP 102 PRE-INTERMEDIATE Course Description and Objectives: This course aims to enhance students grammatical knowledge and language skills at pre-intermediate level. In addition, it aims to improve students ability to follow daily conversations and to catch the main points of discussions between native speakers as well as of recorded materials such as TV documentaries and radio programmes. The course focuses on consolidating students reading skills that help them to understand main points of newspaper articles, stories or other written materials. The course also encourages students to give impromptu speeches on familiar topics and express their points of view in a more advanced style. Moreover, this course attempts to enhance students writing skills. PREP 103 INTERMEDIATE Course Description and Objectives: This course targets to enhance students previous knowledge and skills at intermediate level. In accordance with this aim, it focuses on improving students ability to use various strategies for comprehension by using contextual clues. In addition, the course concentrates on intonation. It also encourages students to guess the meaning of unknown vocabulary from the context. Skimming and scanning skills are also improved in this course. Besides, it focuses on consolidating the ability of making descriptions or giving instructions as well as writing about real or fictional situations. PREP 104 UPPER INTERMEDIATE Course Description and Objectives: This course aims to maximize students knowledge and skills at upper intermediate level. Firstly, it aims to help students recognize the concepts of redundancy, emphatic stress and back referencing. Also, it focuses on different accents and sentence stress in English language. It improves students ability to understand articles apart from their own field with the help of a dictionary and to grasp the context of long texts, newspaper articles and reports by scanning. Moreover, the course aims to help students write argumentative essays on various topics. At the end of this course, students will be able to understand speeches despite environmental difficulties. Also, they will be able to give comprehensive presentations and respond to a series
of follow-up questions, use stock phrases and take an active part in
discussions by evaluating proposals and hypotheses.
