Sunday’s COOLUpdates
Sunday’s COOL is ReNewed! Sunday’s COOL
is using a new program called “Bible Song.” The vision
of Bible Song is simple - to equip children and families
with the tools they need to discuss faith life at home.
There is an emphasis on using the Bible and learning
the order of the books of the Bible plus memorizing
verses. All of this is done with fun songs, sign
language, movement, games, and crafts! Students
and leaders will participate together in the “Faith 5.”

below.
Spring Teachers Needed! Leaders are needed
to co-teach a class from February – May. Each
Sunday’s COOL lesson begins with a 15 minute
opening to sing songs and introduce the theme of the
week. Teachers have about 45 minutes to lead the
children through the Bible using Bible stories and
hands-on activities. Classes are age appropriate and
10 teachers are needed. Sign ups are available in the
Welcome Center.
Sunday’s COOLOffering
LWR Health Kits - Giving back to God and helping
neighbors in need are important concepts that we
want our young ones to learn. Therefore, we are
collecting an offering each week this year to help
provide health kit supplies to those in need. Please
encourage your child to tithe of their money/allowance
or to purchase kit supplies during family shopping
trips. This project will conclude in January! On
Sunday, January 24th, the children will help to
assemble the health kits during Sunday’s COOL!
Children’s Christm as Play
A BIG thank you to all of the volunteers that helped
put on “The Christmas Letters.” The play was a great
opportunity for the children to explore the birth of
Jesus in new ways and to share that story with SoJ.
Special thanks to Leanne Duffy for directing, Shana
Hales for costume design, and Phil Greve and Patti
Linman for musical direction.
Children’s Ministry Team
Children’s Ministry Team Meeting – The Children’s
Ministry Team will be meeting on Sunday, January 24th,
after the 10:45 service. This is an open committee for
all concerned adults
and parents. The team will be discussing the
effectiveness
of the new Bible Song program and what steps to take
next to continue “ReNewing”

Hands Full of Bibles
Is your child learning to read and ready for their own
Bible? Families are encouraged to attend a workshop
on sharing the Bible with you children. Then Spirit of
JOY will do a formal Bible presentation during worship.
Dates will be decided that are convenient for all
participants. Please sign up in the Welcome Center for
“Hands Full of Bibles.”
SoJ Cub Scout Pack Recruitm ent
SoJ sponsors Cub Scout Pack 134 at 7 p.m. on Monday
nights. They are actively recruiting new members for
their 4th year of successful operation. Boys in first
through fifth grade may apply. Also, any adult
interested in helping the pack is welcome to apply.

Cam pbell’s Soup Labels for
SoJ
Spirit of JOY collects Campbell’s Soup Labels to
provide free resources for Sunday’s COOL ! Look for
the “Labels for Education” logo by the UPC of any
Campbell’s, Swanson, V8, Prego or Pepperidge Farm
product. Please cut just the UPC code off and drop it in
the box at the Welcome Center.
Nursery Notes
Nursery Staff – SoJ’s Fish Bowl Nursery for ages 3
and under has two new staff members! Please
welcome Amber Rae Engel at the 9 a.m. service and
Jeri Hatcher at the 10:45 a.m. service. Having two
attendants allows both time to worship at one service
and serve at another. They have lots of experience
with children and are excited to serve at SoJ. Please
stop by and say “hi!”
Nursery Volunteers Needed - SoJ has a need
for nursery volunteers to help our newest staff
members serve our many young children who need
someone to watch and play with them during worship.
If you have a warm heart and a kind spirit and would
like to volunteer to share Jesus with little ones, please
sign up in the Fish Bowl!
The Faith 5
“Every Night in Every Home”
Everyone is encouraged to take 5 minutes and
share the Faith 5 every night!
1. Share highs and lows for the day
2. Read a Bible scripture (suggestions are e-
mailed in the
weekly prayer list!)
3. Talk about how what God says in the Bible
passage
interacts with highs & lows (Where is God in all
this?)
